The employees that waited on me were kind and helpful, the Vernon, CT branch manager Nick Miles was unhelpful, arrogant, aggressive, and even hostile towards me. I was flustered because I was asked for my social security number, and I have never been asked for that at a Keybank before, and I have been banking with Keybank for quite some time now, both business and personal checking.
When I asked why I was being asked for my social security number in drive through to simply deposit some checks, after I had already given them my driver's license and debit card... the bank manager Nick Miles came over and began speaking to me like he was a drill sergeant, being arrogant and hostile towards me, and then threatening to put in official complaints to the other Keybank locations that I do business with who have not asked me for my social security number.
I own a business and when a customer is confused, flustered, disappointed, or anything I treat them with dignity and respect and guide them through the situation professionally. What Nick does is act like a tyrant and run the bank like it is bootcamp in the military. I told Nick that how he speaks to customers is unacceptable and he completely lacked humility and was unapologetic. I don't ever want to go to this location again. Actually Nick Miles makes me not want to do business with Keybank ever again. I fear for and sympathize with other more timid people who ever have to deal with him. What a shame that Keybank sees it fitting to have people like Nick managing and representing their business.

I had an excellent experience applying for a mortgage at this location. Kate (personal banker) explained all of my options and how Key determines affordability. I also worked with MacKenzie (loan originator), who responds very quickly and always follows through. This was the first and only place I inquired for my mortgage and I'm glad I did! I also have an auto loan with Key.
I'm surprised by all of these negative reviews. People are more likely to spend their energy writing a review if their experience was poor, rather than positive. It's clear that many don't understand or lack the patience to understand that company policies are out of control of the employees.

Seeing all of the negative reviews for this branch, I had to come and write about my own experience here - I have been to this branch twice now and have had nothing but friendly and helpful service. Once I was simply depositing a check, but the second time I had a situation that needed to be taken care of, and it was handled quickly and professionally, and I was treated with nothing but respect. I'm a new customer and I am very happy with my new bank!
