I recently moved and had a new advisor look over my portfolio. The new advisor was utterly dismayed at the choices made. Not only did the fund chosen for me grossly underperform it’s peers, but the share class put me in an annual fee category that was much higher than said peers. In other words I paid higher fees for an underperforming fund. Certainty I do not blame him or Edward Jones for something that under performed, but notes in the record never indicated why the choice was made in the first place and over a 6-year period, the advisor questioned why a correction never occurred. I simply have lost trust for the entire Edward Jones network after hearing about this mismanagement.

She only had mutual funds for years and Jason rebalanced her portfolio in fixed income funds for retirement. He called her a few months later to sell one of those funds and buy a stock for dividends. The problem is will take 4 years of dividends to pay back the high commissions on the buy and sell. EJ's own report of this stock stated it had a junk bond rating and concerns about paying the dividend, so Jason had very poor reason to recommend it. The stock tanked and lost half its value. This was a classic churn that only enriched the broker and his company. Deal with him at your own risk.
