Super strange I went in with $500 to open my nephews (legal guardian) an account so I could start teaching them savings and banking in US. Was told they dont do that until they are 13. Very strange behavior for a bank, I thought and left to find another bank who would take money.

I wish they had a “0” star rating option. Having to choose 1 star just to put the word out there. I was told I needed to take financial classes offered by an employee named Teri. The worst experience I’ve ever had with any business in my life. If she would have taken the time to take her own advice she would have seen that they (the bank) was the one in error. Why offer the option to opt out of overdraft protection if they do it anyway? This bank puts holds on payments causing overdraft fees. That’s how they get you. I had my account for a few years. And never had someone treat me the way Teri did. Like I don’t know how to add 1+1. She refused to do the math. Went by her computer. Well I did the math and the error was the bank holding my bill payments. Go back and do the math yourself Teri. Being charged one overdraft fee after another. And then she refused to close my account. Said she would do it tomorrow. If I wanted it closed tomorrow, I would have come in the next day. She was wanting more overdraft fees to come in even after I was paid up. I was in tears. And Teri was cold and uncaring. Needless to say I closed my account. Last thing I need is the bank ripping me off. And btw KeyBank hours are Monday thru Thursday. Don’t you dare bank on a Friday.

⭐☆☆☆☆ I would give zero stars if I could. My account with KeyBank was locked without any prior communication, leaving me completely unable to access my funds, check what bills were paid, or resolve anything. I was told a check was returned—but it came from a company I regularly receive checks from. I’ve deposited many checks from the same issuer before without any issue. I spoke with a representative named Teri at my local branch, and later with the branch manager, Lorraine. I confirmed with both of them—and with KeyBank’s customer service—that there were no unauthorized transactions on my account. Despite this, I was placed under fraud review with no clear explanation. I was even told, “I hope this gets resolved before it escalates,” but no one could tell me what was escalating. To make matters worse, I was told I would be responsible for any fees resulting from this—even though I was never warned or given the opportunity to fix the issue before my account was locked. Despite Teri telling me at one point that the issue was resolved, my account was locked again the next day. The only consistent message I received from KeyBank was, “This isn’t our fault.” The way this was handled was unprofessional, disorganized, and frankly, negligent. After reading other reviews, I can see I’m not alone—this seems to be a pattern with KeyBank. I’ll be closing my account and I strongly urge others to avoid banking with KeyBank.

It's a good bank and they give cash bonuses for direct deposit.

We have had nothing but wonderful experiences at this branch. Teri knows us by name, knows our financial priorities and is unfailingly helpful. We enjoy going to the bank because we know Teri genuinely cares about us. The branch itself is clean, and welcoming. We highly recommend this bank and especially Teri!
