I don't bank here and definitely won't based on an experience my friend just had at the Sunnyvale location. He went into the branch to ask for change for 3 hundred dollar bills (which he had just obtained from the branch's own ATM), and was basically refused service until he could furnish a receipt from the ATM. Even after offering to show the withdrawal transaction on his phone app, the teller continued to interrogate him, asking him why he needed change and even called the bank manager. Why was this necessary? Since when does a teller need to know the purpose for someone breaking a 100 dollar bill?
Did this interaction have anything to do with the race of my friend (who happens to be a well compensated employee at a large internet firm)?
Apparently this is a policy - if so, the policy needs to be prominently displayed and also uniformly applied.
