- GJGabe JohnsonNov 16, 20251.0Don’t waste your time at ACE Cash Express, go to the Walmart Money Services across the street instead. My pregnant wife and I arrived at ACE around 4:45 pm, 15 minutes before closing, to cash a check. The place was empty except for one employee. After a short wait, we were asked if we are new or returning customers, after telling him we were new, he looked at the check and told us we’d need to come back on a weekday because, as first-time customers, he’d have to make “a bunch of calls” to the issuing company and verify there is no block or hold on the check. When I asked if this was official policy or where I could find it, he wasn’t sure and said "Um I think it's online." I also asked for a manager’s contact or business card and was given “877-ACE-CASH” scribbled on a piece of paper. We left and cashed the check at the Neighborhood Walmart across the street, in legitimately 5 minutes, with no hassle. Save yourself the frustration and skip ACE Cash Express. Walmart takes less fees from your check too.
