Umpqua Bank helps people, businesses and communities find financial solutions that fit.
We do so by treating our customers like people, not numbers. We get to know them and find products and services that meet their needs and goals. And we give back to the communities we serve because it helps us all.
Umpqua offers the best of both worlds – the financial expertise and strength of a national bank with the customer service and care of a community bank.
My parents have been customers of Umpqua (now Columbia) for 25 years. Our family recently moved across the country and we are getting ready to close on a house. When my dad called customer care last week about doing a wire over the phone to close on our house, they told him yes. Because I’ve worked in banking for 9 years, I told my dad to verify with a member of his branch. My dad called first thing Monday morning PST but the branch # rang with no answer. He called again. No answer. Finally, he went back to customer care who tried to get a hold of the branch and succeeded. (So the branch is apparently deliberately ignoring customer calls.) When he finally did get in touch with the branch, they told him they couldn’t send a wire over the phone without agreements. Ok. I’ve put those agreements together for customers before. I told my dad to ask them to send him the agreements over email so he could print, sign, and overnight back to them. They refused.
The poor customer service rep tried her best, working between the branch and the wire department to figure out what to do. But the bank had already decided to snub a customer of 25 years. They were completely unwilling to think outside of the box to help a stranded customer. The branch ignores customer calls. And they hold your money hostage if you can’t get into a branch.
My parents will be leaving Columbia after 25 years. As a career banker, I am absolutely disgusted and strongly urge any shopping customer to bank elsewhere. Columbia Bank does not care about you and will not help you when you find yourself up against a wall.

Iv been a customer at Umpqua since the day this branch opened , Iv always had a good experience with tellers and managers, until now. I have a very active business account, a large savings account and my personal checking accounts there. Sadly the branch manager thinks it’s ok to treat my like a scum off the street. I have never seen such a rude unqualified person working as a manager. By his own suggestion I will be closing all my accounts and moving to a customer friendly bank. I would NOT recommend anyone banking at Umpqua

Came here to change my name and address again. Manager helped me and said that he would order my new card. Said that a rush would be put on it and receive it soon. Waited a week and nothing called the 800 number to be told my card was never ordered. Went back to get one printed. I didn't yell wasn't rude but told the teller that her manager never ordered one. When I told the manager he never ordered one he decided to argue with me instead of help me. Horrible service.

Called this bank because of business reasons. Employees are not knowledgeable- they paused for a good while after I asked my questions because they had no idea what I was asking (they could have asked me to explain further rather than holding this long awkward pause). I was transferred multiple times; each time I have to repeat the whole story but not surprisingly other employees also didn't understand what I was looking for. Only after couple transfers, someone finally understood what I was looking for. Even that, she was slightly aggressive and wasn't willing to help further.
If I were in the states, I would rather not have a bank accounts than having to deal with employees who have no idea what they're doing.
