- ALAmy LawrenceNov 7, 20254.0My parents banked with Columbia for decades. Their local branch staff in Washington were exemplary. When they passed away, the local branch staff were so helpful. When I found the Branch in San Jose, I was pleased with the professional service. Today, I tried the chat feature and waited 5 mins for a live agent before I ended the chat. I then called the 800 line because the online system told me I had to call them. After a few minutes of automation, I was routed to "customer service". When I was trying to understand the issue and attempted to problem solve, the representative was aggressive and condescending in tone. I asked to be transferred to someone else because we were not communicating well. Again, the man was condescending and his tone was completely unfriendly. I actually told him that he didn't need to raise his voice or interrupt me. I was transferred a placed on "hold" for several more minutes. It left me frustrated. My experience was completely unhelpful and I disconnected the call. Next, I called the San Jose branch, and the Branch Manager answered. After listening to the issue, he was able to explain and provide me with two, not one, solutions to solve my problem. This was in less than 2 mins. If I was rating the central call center, I'd give zero stars. If I rate the local branch, five stars.

Tellers are nice, facilities are nice, they have free coffee and most of the time cookies too, a monthly display from some local business or another, books for the kids/adults reading while they wait if they like, nice bathrooms, a meeting room that I think can be reserved, and even has a bus stop right out front.
