  This business deserves to fail. It is the only Wells Fargo in Calaveras County. You would think that they would have many tellers with this being the case. Instead they have one teller, and on multiple occasions the wait times have been excessive. Today, I was one of 13 or so people waiting (many more came in but gave up seeing the line). At one point the manager came out to tell us what we already knew, that there was only one teller and that she was working as fast as she could. When people aired their grievances about this being a consistent problem with the branch, the manager asked us for any suggestions. I told her that they need to pay people better. She gave me the “competitive wages” spiel 401k, etc. yada yada yada. You simply are not paying people enough. I looked online and it says the position is in the $20-25/ hr range. We all know this means someone starting out is getting the lowest amount on that rung. $20 an hour may have been “competitive” four years ago, but it sure isn’t now. Grocery prices have doubled since 2019, and while this bank is not fully to be blamed for the current economic crisis, Wells Fargo as a whole is a giant part of the problem. Accept that you need to pay people more. Why would someone want to work this job and be the only teller for the entire county? And get paid the least of everybody there. You’d think that their only available bank teller would be making overtime with the workload given to her, but no. It’s total and complete greed. We are in a sad state of affairs if one of the biggest bank chains in America cannot pay it’s employees a living wage. Sad and disgraceful and shame on the manager for continuing to work for a place that doesn’t pay their staff fairly. Not a strong leader, and absolutely useless as she’s “not allowed to take on the role of teller.” She then disappeared for the rest of the time I was there (about fifty minutes). And if it isn’t the pay that’s keeping people from working here, then it has got to be the work environment. Understandable as there are three employees working and only one has to do the brunt of the work and get paid the least. But why would a business like this care if people have to wait to get access to their funds? They simply make more money by having to pay less staff, and that means that the little staff they have and their customers get to feel the weight of these consequences. I lost an hour of what little free time I have this week and am reasonably upset that this consistently happens with this place. People of Calaveras should not support Wells Fargo and should look elsewhere for banking.

  I had very prompt and satisfying service. No waiting in line at all. I am happy that this is my branch. Tellers are friendly and helpful.
