I showed up to the Roseville branch with my wife on her lunch break to deposit an IRS tax refund check and was denied. We ended up having to drive three blocks to CHASE bank (her bank) where we were able to deposit the check. What is going on at this branch? Two weeks earlier I deposited my State tax refund check just fine at the Wells Fargo branch in Citrus Heights. After escalation to Wells Fargo's complaint dept I was told each branch has their own discretion to accept or deny deposits. To me that isn't a good enough response from their complaint dept. How can any branch pick and choose to discriminate as they see fit?

Been a wells fargo customer since the 90s. I was running literally to the door and she turned the lock right in my face exactly at 5pm. So rude!!! I expect better treatment from a bank i have been loyal to for so long... She smirked as if it made her day to ruin mine.

I’ve been a Wells Fargo customer since 2013 and have never had an experience quite like this one. I went in to make a deposit but realized at the counter that I had lost my ID. I left without completing the transaction, and fortunately found my ID on the floor of my car—it had simply fallen out of my bag. When I returned to the branch—literally next in line—a woman who said her name was Daneka approached me and asked if I wanted to use the ATM. I politely declined and told her I preferred to go back to the teller who had helped me earlier. Despite this, she continued to push—insisting multiple times that I use the ATM—even after I explained that I had a complicated deposit and had already been inside. I again said I preferred to wait, and at that point, she made a dismissive comment and laughed. When I finally reached the counter, Daneka told the teller, “I tried to get her to go to the ATM,” which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. A woman named Sara—who appeared to be a manager—then chimed in and remarked that it “would have been just as fast,” in a tone that came across as irritated and condescending. It felt as though my decision to wait for a teller was an inconvenience to them. Thankfully, the teller who actually assisted me with the deposit was friendly, professional, and respectful—exactly what you hope for in a banking experience. I appreciated her demeanor and assistance. Still, the rest of the interaction left me feeling frustrated and unwelcome. If a customer clearly expresses that they prefer to use a teller—especially when handling a complicated deposit—it shouldn’t be met with pressure, attitude, or passive-aggressive remarks. Both Daneka and Sara would benefit from additional customer service training. This was disappointing, and not what I’ve come to expect from Wells Fargo. Side note: It’s honestly ironic—and a bit frustrating—that employees like Daneka and Sara are so insistent on pushing customers toward ATMs and automated services. If every customer did that, there wouldn’t be a need for their roles. You’d think that would make them value in-person service even more, not less.
