- JMJohn MoranFeb 14, 20251.0When I go to the bank from which the check was written, I shouldn't have to be charged $10 for cashing it. That's ridiculous. The person who wrote the check to me doesn't expect me to get charged money, to get the money they wanted to give me from their account. And yeah, I have my own financial institutions, so I'm not interested in opening an account just to avoid a charge, as they offered me. That feels like coercion. If you are charging non-members fees to cash a check, then I want nothing to do with giving that same bank my banking business. I talked to the manager since I know they have the authority to override a charge, he said there's nothing he can do. I'm guessing that's another reason my wife says more and more Wells Fargo people end up going to her financial institution where she is a manager... lots of Wells Fargo people switch over... from Wells Fargo, and Golden One Credit union as well. I'm glad we have choices.
