- RWRenata WattsDec 9, 20251.0I am beyond frustrated with my experience with City National Bank’s loan department. After paying off my mortgage in full, the bank incorrectly debited another full mortgage payment from my account. This should never happen under any circumstances, especially after a payoff has been confirmed. To make matters worse, they also charged me 30 days of interest in advance, rather than prorating interest on a daily basis as most lenders do at payoff. As a result, I ended up overpaying a significant amount, only to then have the bank pull an additional full payment after the loan was already closed. This has been infuriating, financially disruptive, and completely unacceptable for a bank that advertises itself as a high-level, service-oriented institution. The level of oversight and follow-through in their loan department is severely lacking, and the impact on customers is real. I am still waiting for a full resolution and reimbursement of the funds that should never have been taken. Until City National Bank addresses these systemic issues, I cannot recommend them to anyone seeking mortgage services.
