- AAAli.Feb 6, 20191.0Starts out my daughter writes 2200 so I pick up some antique for moms birthday. I spent night in los banos. Morning fooled closest patelco. The closest was was Merced. I get there there was no branch. I called them they said the closest was a co op with self help credit union merced had a call center or something . I get to Modesto they said they would not cash a patelco check because no affiliation. Mind you when I called from Merced they assured my I would be able to cash it. Called again they said go Livermore and ask for Karen they contacted her I would stop by. I get she said no. Plenty of money but could not verify the signature. She called my daughter ( who is in high school) from a blocked number so she couldn't call back. I was referred to HER branch in Oakland. I get there they said said they didn't have her signature on file. Which begs the question on how you can open a bank account with out signature. They said she needs to come in, so I go pull her out we get there she gives her debit card and check and guess what? They still would not cash it . Even though she does there all the time using her card she still needed two forms of ID. So we go home get her passport and pull out the 2200. Mind you we started in los banos at 9 Am and now its 4 PM in Oakland. I asked the teller to talk to regional manager since she was there this week at the branch I was told she would not be able to talk to me. So we w left frustrated. The next day my wife and son went to their own branch t ok close out their cds and accounts(all family banks at patelco I don't travel a lot need access to arms without charge). We figured we might take out cash just in case and leave it in the safe. Guess what bvb they said they didn't have that kind of cash 9k. I shot you not. So I call my co worker to give him the story. As it turns out which I honestly can't be sure of its validity, the founder Mr Patel is Indian who is not fond of muslims makes clear to everyone in his organization and everything trickles down from there (my 17 year old daughter wears hajab). So we went back to our old credit union we had when we lived in Fresno. We got our car loans and home loan from them. You know what is the widest part is ? My daughter refuses to close her account there because one of the tellers was nice to her! For the one person that reads :)) this there is no moral to this long story.
