I came to open a checking account and later noticed I was charged $17 for checks I didn’t order. I was told I needed to bring them in for a refund. This is unnecessary effort I would rather not have. I am a mom to a toddler and work full-time. I don’t have time to run to the bank for this. In response to the comment left from Fred I emailed Customer Help and they redirected me right back to the branch with the same instructions. I have to go to the branch to get the checks destroyed to receive a refund for a product that I did not order.

Been banking here over 40 years. Customer service representatives have always been helpful especially during tough times. Today, they went above and beyond to help my mom of 86 years old. I can’t give details because it’s personal, but everyone is willing to work and pay attention to needs of customers. They were very patient as my mom slowly filled out paperwork. Thank you for your patience and respect to the elders, Citi in Monrovia!!!!

As many here will attest, in this day and age, getting any sort of customer service via phone call (as we mostly need to do for banking now) is the ultimate exercise in frustration and anger management. After 5 million Sponge Bob years in phone calls to the 800 number I was supposed to call for CitiBank, I marched down to my little town's Citi Bank in Monrovia, CA. I was baiting for bear, as we say. I had a request not often made, I guess, about my CD account but was told by my financial advisor that a bank can absolutely stop automatic maturity processing. I happened to get what we used to call a "teller" (concierge banker) named Cecilia Wu and although at first she did not know what to make of my crankiness and request, she talked to the personal banker, Adam Geiger, who instructed her on how to call Citibank herself and process my request. Imagine my shock and dismay when poor Cecilia kept getting the run around from the Citibank people on the other end of the phone. I felt so sorry for her but she cheerfully just kept at it for probably a good half hour trying to get someone in "corporate" who could help! I could not believe that the bigger muckety mucks on the other end of the Citibank line could not and would not help not only, me, their customer, but Cecilia who works for and with them. BUT -- I left incredibly happy that there are still people like Cecilia Wu who care about people and are also very professional while doing so. She was cheerfully determined -- a Wonder Woman in action. She was a calm, helpful, kind, gracious, and intellligent "force" of determination to help little old me. I made sure I talked to the bank manager, Kirsten Dyer to give Cecilia the praise she deserved, and Kirsten was gracious and supportive. I also took Cecilia some chocolates later that day to thank her, because seriously, it is so rare to find excellent customer service and kindness in this day and age. It is a true tragecy as actual banks, and stores, and post offices and such close in my little town and throughout the nation, but to have this experience was heartening. Thank you, Cecilia Wu and Monrovia Citi bank.

Well from what I see from the reviews I can conclude that this bank sucks. I decided to make an account with citi, with the wonderful help of Adam Geiger. Worst decision ever. If my account was going to be closed for certain reasons. Why not tell the person he can't bank here instead of having him set up an account..days later my account is closed. And my money is on hold now around the christmas time. I also feel they had some kind of hatred energy. Maybe because of race. The manager was very rude and did not want to explain nor release my funds to me in person. I was told it was up to their discretion if they'd release the funds. It was ultimately up to them but they refused as if I had done something wrong. I can't stress the level of frustration I dealt with and wasn't able to do anything. I would definitely not recommend this branch.

I am very happy with the Monrovia Citibank branch. The service is excellent. Everyone goes out of their way to be accommodating. I often have difficult transactions because of my business and personal banking needs (wiring money, two-party checks, multiple deposits) and I really appreciate the personal service by the tellers and managers. Also, Michelle Alvarado in the Home Loan Department and manager Yolanda are wonderful to work with - both very professional and knowledgeable.
