- SBsara bethurumAug 24, 20241.0NEVER NEVER NEVER open a Scholarshare 529 account with this company. 13 years ago, my late husband and I established accounts for 7 of our grandchildren, he passed away 3 years ago. It has taken me 2 years to re-establish the accounts in my name so I could help the grands with their college tuition. I was provided with 140 pages of forms to fill out, that had to be done on paper and mailed back to them. When that was done there was always another form, letter or certificate that needed to be provided to them. All these "forms" had to be filled out in person and mailed to them in Kansas City. (I am in California) When I tried to enroll the accounts on line I was told that because I was using an Apple computer and Safari as my browser, that was not possible because their software was not compatible with Safari.!!!!!. They have had over $100K of my money for 3 years. Never paid any interest and I still am not able to access 4 of the 7 accounts. I have had to pay for my oldest granddaughter to attend college out of pocket because I was unable to access her funds. This company has no ability to sit down with their customer and provide help. Every time I called with a question I was required to interface with a different "advisor". who had to "research" the question. Would I like a call back? A call back that never came. I mailed off yet another packet of forms 2 days ago. Given past performance I will be very surprised if there is not another "requirement". I give one stare because I couldn't give less.

The local office is closed and calls are not forwarded to a local representative on a national level this company shuts its service desk at 3 PM Pacific standard Time. This all represents getting the easy things wrong… Frightening to imagine how they handle the hard things.
