My wife is a U.S. citizen, and I have legal status through my job. We did our research on what was needed to open a joint bank account and went to the bank a couple of times to get it done. However, we were never given a clear and complete list of the requirements, so in the end, we couldn’t open the joint account and decided to open one under her name instead. Since we arrived, we’ve been paying our taxes and following all legal requirements. Even after providing the additional information the bank requested, a few weeks later we were told that we didn’t align with the bank’s values and they decided to close the account. Our only goal with the account was to centralize our expenses and manage our recurring monthly payments more easily.

When I call a local branch, I expect to speak to someone at a local branch. Bank OZK now routes everything a call center, and wait times are typically around 10 minutes or longer. When I was finally connected to a call center rep, she said I would need to speak to the local branch. No shit, that's the number I called. Absolutely ridiculous. To anyone considering opening an account here, I suggest you go to Arvest instead, which is where I'll be going when I close my account here.

Quite possibly the worst bank I’ve ever dealt with. I have accounts with Regions, Bank of America, two federal credit unions, Citibank and a local bank in Austin. The amount of legal requirements that have to execute trust documents, the inability to reissue cashiers checks, the poor customer service and just the unwillingness to help “this is our process and we can’t do anything about it” is ridiculous. You are better off going with a big bank with the amount of bureaucracy they have, at least the big banks have more convenient locations, and the smaller banks treat you better and have better rates on HELOCs and other financial offerings. If you find a rate that’s close to the one Bank OZK offers, go with the other institution you’re going to get better service and in the long run a better relationship.

Opened an account yesterday and less than 24 hours later, I'm likely closing it. I had an account with them years ago and moved away. I opened an account with them again yesterday because I moved back and my current bank sometimes puts randomly long holds on check deposits and I’m tired of it. I told them that I had a check coming in today (a Saturday), how much the check would be, and I specifically asked since they were open on Saturday mornings, could I deposit my check that Saturday and have access to it by Wednesday. They said yes. I asked multiple times to be sure. My check came in and I went to deposit it this morning and I was then told that I’d have a 9 day hold on the check. I explained that wasn’t what I was told and that a shorter hold and having access to my check by Wednesday was the reason I’d opened my account to begin with. They still refused to make any of my check available sooner than 9 days. I ended up taking my check back and going back to my bank I’d planned on leaving and I will have access to my full check by Tuesday. Bank OZK might be a decent bank, but this is a very bad way to restart its relationship with me. I’ve already pulled out the money I used to open that account and will likely close it and remain at the bank I’d planned on leaving. I’m tired of banks acting like they own my money. When banks screw up, it costs the customers money. If a bank employee tells you something will definitely work, then the bank should honor it, regardless if the employee was correct or not. It’s not my fault your employees don’t know their own policies. Way to go, Bank OZK! You’ve managed to lose a customer less than 24 hours after opening an account. That might be a record!
