The Haven has been an absolute blessing for my mom. the entire staff - caregivers, dining room attendants, maintenance, administration, are always so cheerful, patient and helpful. i cannot emphasize enough the wonderful way the caregivers are with mom. They treat her the way they would treat their own mothers. Their dedication and compassion to all the residents there, shines through. The meals at the Haven are not only healthy, but delicious! Chef Ken also gets involved with the residents occasionally, sharing his culinary creations together. The activities director, Nash, provides such interesting and fun ventures, at least 4 to 5 daily... for example: "Tee it off", "snowball fight", "Duck Hunt", "Red Hat Society", and they also have outside entertainment come in, providing music, comedy, and pet therapy. The residents have many opportunities for a full, exciting day, every day, which brightens their spirits immensely. What is especially important for my mom is the Catholic Mass and Communion Services that are available. THANK YOU HAVEN, for making the difficult transition of moving mom from living on her own to residing there, so much easier for our family. We know she is being well taken care of.

I can't give enough accolades to ALL the staff from the top down for the level of care at The Haven. From the moment I walked in the building while looking for a place for my loved one, I knew I had found a gem. The grounds are well-kept, the building has modern decor touches, is in terrific shape, and I was met with a GENUINE smile and greeting. I soon found out that they had something like a dozen employees that had worked there for more than a decade and just as many quickly reaching that milestone. After taking the tour of the facility and hearing about all the amenities, I knew I had found the perfect place. This was over 6 months ago, and they have proven themselves even more capable and amazing in our eyes since. Thanks to everyone at the Haven for all the help and peace of mind they have given myself and my family when making such an important choice.

We moved my Dad into The Haven in July 2025. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. The food is great, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely check this place out for a family member that you care about.

I have only positive things to say about The Haven. The staff is wonderful. Always available if I have any questions or concerns. They are so nice to my mom and if there is ever any concerns they will contact me. You can tell that they truly care about the residents. Also, the rooms are a nice size. My mom is a more private person so if she doesn't feel like socializing she'll just keep her door closed. But I know that someone will always check on her throughout the day. Usually to make her smile or give her a laugh for the day. Anytime I hear of someone starting to consider a place for a relative, I always tell them to check The Haven.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Haven at North Hills Senior Residence

Are there specific medications required for residents with dementia and how is medication managed at The Haven?

A memory care resident’s primary care physician is responsible for ordering medications while The Haven’s staff is responsible for medication administration and management. What this means is that your loved one might be on no medications at all or several medications depending on their overall health and well-being as determined by their primary care physician. Our memory care team will administer the medications as ordered, monitor for side effects and efficacy, and reach out to your loved one’s primary care doctor if they feel any medication is not achieving the desired result. To learn more about medication for dementia or Alzheimer’s and how it is managed at The Haven at North Hills contact us for more information.

Are memory care residents at The Haven required to follow a specialty diet?

There are dietary recommendations that can help memory care residents stay as healthy as possible despite a dementia diagnosis, but it’s also important to keep in mind their changing physical body and how that impacts their diet as well. For example, a newly diagnosed person who is in the early stages of dementia will generally need a diet rich in specific vitamins and nutrients, which can often be provided at home with special effort. However, over time, people with dementia decline both cognitively and physically. A consequence of this challenging decline is a change in swallowing, which might necessitate thickened liquids and ground or pureed foods. Close monitoring from qualified caregivers at The Haven can ensure these changes are made at the right time.
