Initially, I was very excited to enroll my 18month old daughter here. It was conveniently located in close proximity to not only our home but my oldest daughter elementary school. At the time My daughter was non verbal however was fluent in ASL. Her teacher aide was also, and I was assured there was 3 other students who had speech delay, so this for me was a huge selling point. During the 3 months my child was enrolled in Lighthouse, there were several concerns I brought up directly with the Director. Action plans were in place, safety concerns seemly addressed and I thought all was well. One point of concern was the classrooms are over crowded 2 teachers and 22 students in the 2 y/o class. The director Rebecca said they had just hired another teacher for that class and she was scheduled to start in the upcoming week, so I was at ease. However, This never happened. This lead to poor oversight within the class. There are cameras in the class yet they lag significantly and do not record. During the time we were enrolled, several of her personal items disappeared, thermostats, jackets, extra set of clothes from her cubby. This albeit frustrating wasn’t the final straw. What came 2 weeks shy of her third month enrolled. She was picked up with a 1 inch teach under her eye. There was no incident report made, no call home, no camera footage. I met with the director who apologized and said she would inquire with her teacher this was on a Friday. By Tuesday, no update, so I scheduled a meeting with the teacher, the assistant and director. By Wednesday An action plan to pair the speech delay children to the ASL staff with hope a smaller group will provide better oversight and reassurance was in place. They sent a back dated incident report that said my daughter scratched herself and asked that everyone cut their child’s nails. A scratch that significant is impossible for a toddler to self inflict. At this point we were looking for another center. On Friday that same week at pick up she had another scratch on her face and the bite mark on her arm. Literally in the same week. My daughter signed she wanted to go and was sobbing. Again no notification sent home, no accountability, no answers. Even with the action plan in place. I immediately pulled my daughter from this school. In my opinion the staff needs to be retrained, the director needs to be replaced and additional staff hired. This place is a tragic situation waiting to happen. I’m praying they receive addition resources before something else happens to someone else’s
