At The Goddard School located in Stony Brook, we're more than just a daycare. The Goddard School is a private preschool, offering childcare to infants and toddlers to pre-k. Our programs are designed to nurture each child's curiosity in a safe and caring environment.
We’ve had an incredible experience with The Goddard School over the past few years! Both of our children have attended — our oldest started at age 3 and recently graduated, and our youngest has been thriving there since age 1. As working parents, we couldn’t be more grateful for the supportive, consistent, and enriching environment Goddard provides.
One of the biggest advantages for our family has been their minimal holiday closures, which makes planning so much easier. It’s a huge relief knowing that the school is open consistently and supports working families with a reliable schedule.
The teachers and staff are exceptional — warm, patient, and truly invested in the children. They’ve treated our kids with so much love and care, and it’s clear they genuinely enjoy being part of each child’s growth.
We also appreciate the hot lunches and snacks, especially during the summer months. Mealtime becomes a social and learning opportunity — our kids have been encouraged to try new foods just by eating alongside their peers.
The summer camp program is fantastic, filled with fun, creative activities and learning experiences. It seamlessly continues the school year with very little downtime, which keeps the routine stable for the kids and makes things easier for parents.
Academically, Goddard has given our children a strong foundation in reading, writing, STEM, and more — all while making it fun and age-appropriate. From tracing letters and numbers to exploring science and stories, they’re always learning something new.
We’ve loved how involved and festive the school is, too. There are tons of special events like the Halloween parade, Fall Festival, Pre-K graduation, and more — all of which make for such memorable experiences for the kids (and parents!).
Socially, our son especially thrived — during his time in Pre-K, he was invited to nearly 10 birthday parties from classmates! He made close friendships that he still talks about to this day.
And lastly, as parents, we feel at ease every day knowing that Goddard has an excellent security system and clear safety protocols. It’s reassuring to know our children are in a secure, caring environment.
We truly can’t recommend The Goddard School enough. It’s been a huge part of our children’s early years, and we’re so grateful for everything they’ve done to help them grow, learn, and have fun every step of the way!

The teachers and staff at Goddard Stony Brook are amazing! My family had to find a quick solution to an unexpected situation and the administrative staff (Ms. Amanda and Mr. Nirav) were kind, supportive and found a spot for my child to start immediately. Even as my child had difficulties with the transition, the staff were understanding. My child learned SO much in the short time he was there and if I knew the quality of learning he would get, I would have started him there when he was a baby. I am so grateful to the Goddard teachers (Ms. Donna and Ms. Angie) because my child has grown so much and he made such strong bonds in a short time. I feel confident going into public school because my child was well prepared by the whole team! Thank you Goddard Stony Brook!

Putting my son in this program was one of the best decisions I ever made. He has learned so much in the past year from potty training to knowing his colors and alphabets. Every day he would come home excited about what he learned. The staff has truly been great and welcoming since day 1! They are always going the extra mile to make my son feel welcomed and making it a home away from home. It was great to know that my crazy work schedule could be accommodated and it was never a problem. I would highly recommend this school to anyone!

I started bringing my daughter here when she was 2.5 years old and she has had a wonderful time since day one. The teachers are all wonderful, the kids love them! My daughter loves the director there, Amanda, who is so amazing with the kids. Over all, the school is very clean and the building is secure, which is one thing that I was worried about when I was looking for a place to send my daughter. She doesn’t come home sick as often as some of my friends’ children who go to other daycares in the area. The kids’ days are filled with fun activities, especially in the summer, when they have bounce houses, water play and other fun things the kids love. My daughter has learned some Spanish words, she knows her letters and numbers, including how to write them, making her super ready for pre-k this year. The teachers there have been so wonderful and you can see the love they have for each child in their care. They were amazing with potty training, making it so much easier for me when my daughter was home. Another thing that makes this school different is their flexibility. When I signed up, my schedule was very uncertain, and the school was very accommodating to what I needed. Over all, Goddard is a great school, and I would happily go to them again if I ever had another child.

For infants, we follow the care schedule set by your family and utilize personal care moments to connect with and expand your little one’s individual development. Our teachers also incorporate songs, finger play, books and sensory and physical exploration each day.
Our busy toddlers flex their independence as they learn to walk, talk and safely explore the world around them. Their curiosity and interests drive the classroom structure.
