My mom moved into Brookdale Niskayuna 4 months ago. Without a doubt, Brookdale Niskayuna is now her FAVORITE PLACE on the planet! We both love the staff, her nurses, the friends she's made, the resident activities she gets to be involved in, and everything supports her still-active lifestyle. The food is absolutely outstanding, and family is always invited to join when visiting. The facility is beautiful, immaculate and has a great vibe; you can tell people are HAPPY there as soon as you walk in. My mom was just diagnosed with dementia and wasn't able to live on her own, and living at Brookdale has brought her back to life again, truly. She has her meals made for her, her meds delivered to her, and has her own beautiful, safe apartment that she loves! I'm beyond grateful to the amazing staff for everything they do to love and support my mom...and treat her like family. The elderly people here are treated like superstars! Another huge plus for me/my mom: Brookdale has a nearby "sister" memory care residence when the time comes that my mom needs that. They've assured me it's an easy transfer. I can't say enough good things about Brookdale Niskayuna, and I trust them wholeheartedly with my mom's care and wellbeing.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!! I would end up writing a book if I explained in detail what they did to my grandfather so I’ll sum it up. We paid $8,000 for one month to make sure my grandfather would get all the extra special treatment, and we’re promised physical therapy immediately. Once the contract was signed that all changed. A week after he was there we found out he was not getting physical therapy and he was out on a “waiting list” so we hired an outside company to come in and do PT with him and no Brookdale did not reimburse us for the physical training we paid them for. My grandfathers health rapidly declined being there. They NEVER got him to dinner on time and then fed him food that would make him sick so family started staying with him to see what was really going on. For dinner they would be 30-45 minutes late getting him and by the time he got down there the server wasn’t even there to serve him dinner, one nurse had him down for dinner at 5:30 which is not the right time, another nurse had him down that he brings himself to dinner, so if family wasn’t there to bring him down to dinner he probably would not have eaten at all. Wednesday’s he is supposed to get a shower early in the afternoon and 2 weeks in a row no one showed up.. family was there both Wednesday’s…but i have no doubt the nurses charted that he got a shower, which is falsifying records and a huge no no in healthcare. (And to Brookdale, don’t bother going back and changing your records, I work in healthcare so I know that every keystroke is time stamped). They also do not give medication out on time (or maybe not at all). A family member was with my grandfather until almost 8pm, he is supposed to get his meds at 7pm, she had to call and ask what was going on because he wanted to go to bed. According to the New York State Department Of Health all of these actions are forms of elder abuse, both physical and psychological. Please do not send anyone you care about here, if my family paid extra for the “special treatment” then imagine how they treat the ones who didn’t pay extra. Yes all of this has been documented and is being reported to the proper authorities.

Run away from this place! They couldn’t care less. The management staff is asleep! Trust the care to your elderly loved ones at another place!
