Our daughter has been at Goddard for about a year, and we couldn’t be happier. The new admin team is kind, communicative, and truly knows every child by name. The teachers are the real gift—our infant teacher was calming, loving, and gave us so much peace of mind as first-time parents. Now in the toddler room, our daughter’s new teacher is energetic, fun, and engaging, and we’ve seen her grow and learn so much. We love the mix of activities, from music class and daily walks to plenty of playtime. Most importantly, our daughter is happy and excited to go each day, and we’re so grateful for the care and communication we receive here.

[Note: I wrote this in March. I am posting it now because I have heard some recent complaints, and believe more reviews would be beneficial. Since March, I have also heard that there are new on-site directors.] Our children were at Goddard from September 2024-March 2025. If you are OK with the cost and are willing to accept their high-quality but standardized approach to childcare and education you are likely to be happy. Our children’s teachers were loving and kind, and we felt they learned a lot, were safe, and were well cared for. They have a music teacher come through at least once a week, which is great. I wish there had been more free play time for the toddlers. The Goddard curriculum seems geared toward assuaging parental anxiety around educational attainment, so even infants have codified “lessons” to defend their activities; I found that a depressing reflection of American social precarity. The facility is new and clean, though few rooms have street-facing windows and there is only a small indoor play gym. The kids go outside when it’s warm, but because the closest playground is a long walk and they need extra supervision, they don’t go often or for very long. They have strict but understandable rules on stroller size, but an arbitrary ban on even the most diminutive folding scooters. It’s extremely convenient if you commute by subway. Unless your child decides they need to scoot that day. We were rarely greeted by leadership while coming and going, and we observed a few angry conflicts between staff or parents and directors. This may be because the on-site directors are disempowered, and the owner and educational director are off-site at another location. I spoke to the owner once before the location even opened, and have not since. My spouse and I recall seeing him twice between us in the six months our kids were here. I did, however, receive an email from the owner after a group of us angrily insisted (mea culpa, we are emotional parents) that the directors escalate a request to their leadership. The owner (a psychologist) sent an email that we perceived as defensive, condescending, and authoritarian. We were willing to live with the policy in question, but the email left us afraid to raise any concern in the future, no matter how deferentially. We submitted our notice of withdrawal within two days.

🚨PARENTS BEWARE🚨 We recently unenrolled our infant from The Goddard School (73rd Street) after just a few days due to serious concerns with health, safety, and lack of transparency. On September 9, 2025, rodent droppings were found in my child’s classroom. Parents were not notified at the time, and we were later told the problem was “resolved.” When I arrived the next day, droppings were still visible in the day care. At that point we made the decision to unenroll from the Goddard School. Staff members privately apologized and admitted they understood why we unenrolled. Unfortunately, leadership — owner Bill and director Chap — refused to acknowledge the seriousness of the issue. Chap even ignored me in person when I came to collect my son’s belongings. To make matters worse, the school has refused to refund tuition for days when my child did not attend, days when health and safety were breached, and even for days when the school closed due to the infestation. In my experience, they are quick to point to the enrollment agreement when it benefits them, but unwilling to take accountability for their own responsibility to provide a safe, healthy environment. Instead, they present a public face that “everything is fine” — while parents are kept in the dark. If the admin team is unwilling to provide transparency or awareness of ongoing and known health risks to infants/toddlers, what else are they willing to hide to avoid a hiccup in the bottom line of their business. In my opinion, this shows negligence, deception, and a lack of basic accountability from leadership. I cannot recommend this school to any parent who values safety and transparency.

OKAYY! Let’s start at most of these reviews on this location is from parents which most parents have good experiences because they don’t know what happens behind closed doors. THE DIRECTORS AT THIS LOCATION ARE TERRIBLE ! Paul was hired before at Goddard then he quit, him leaving lasted 4 months and then he returned back to Goddard , and not making one thing better for this location at all. No staff , no help, no nothing ! The classrooms are always out of ratio since staff call out due to unfair conditions. There are also roaches and mice. The newest director Paige absolutely has no idea what she is doing at all if you ask her any question, the answer is always “ok ask Paul” just completely useless!

I can't say enough great things about Goddard on 73rd! We transferred from the 93rd street location when they opened and the transition was seamless. Our 2-year old son LOVES his teachers and classroom (great big windows!) and the staff there are AMAZING! They respond to messages and inquiries so quickly and are always keeping the parents informed on upcoming events, etc. They are all just so warm and friendly and when I go to pick up my son, he hides from me because he does not want to leave! They take the kids on walks daily around the neighborhood as well so they get fresh air. I can't way enough good things about Goddard and knowing how well my son is cared for and nutrured just makes my heart so happy knowing he's blossoming there.
