  We couldn't be more happy with the friendly and caring staff at Brookdale. Great activities and personal attention for our loved one. Everyone there has made this difficult transition as painless as possible. Consistent communication is another factor that has been handled very well and always very professionally. Can't say enough good things about Brookdale.

  My aunt lives in this community in Fayetteville and she absolutely loves it there. We are happy with the care that she receives and the staff is very caring. The community has a very warm feeling and we feel like they treat her like family! Thank you to the community for going above and beyond!

  My mother was at Brookdale East Side for about 5 months. Our family's experience here was mixed. On the positive side, many staff members were kind and caring. The facility is well maintained (but could use some updating). On the negative side, we had to advocate for my Mom to receive the services promised. For example, she did not always get showers on time and her laundry went unwashed for longer than a week. Communication among the top-level staff was poor, and we often did not know who to talk to about various issues having to do with my Mom's care. The biggest problem came when my Mom had to leave the facility. Brookdale East Side mistakenly charged her for the next month (even after I reminded them to remove her from the auto pay system) and we did not get reimbursed for 27 days, even though the contract states that they must return any money owed within 3 days. I had to make an enormous effort and waste many hours to resolve this issue. It was extremely frustrating. The Director was new at the time and seemed unable to solve what should have been a straightforward issue. Eventually, I had to work with someone in the regional corporate office in Rochester. I never received a formal apology from the facility and they did not make any gesture to acknowledge their mistake. If your family member goes to Brookdale, please be prepared to advocate for them.

  Mom has been at Brookdale for almost three years. Those years have seen so many changes - the staff, the residents and of course the coronavirus pandemic. Through it all, all staff members have continued to work diligently to keep life "normal" for her. A daunting task, but I have only seen smiles, caring and good communication through it all. When there is a problem, it is a team effort to solve it; happy moments are shared as well. Am happy to have found community.
