- TBTree BeardDec 8, 20213.0Brookdale made a lot of promises when I was researching an assisted living facility for my parents. They kept most of them. The one they reneged on was the offer to take residents to their doctor's appointment "anywhere within Cape May County". They will not take my mother to her doctor in Ocean City. Admittedly, it's at the edge of Cape May County, but still within. They have issues with keeping a driver on staff, but that's not my problem. Now, whenever I am unable to take her, my 91 year old father has to drive her. *Not* the ideal situation and certainly not the one we were promised. The food is not good at all. My father refuses to eat there (so we have to spend money having groceries delivered) and my mother goes down to every meal, but usually only eats one meal there because of the quality. Other residents complain about the food as well. All in all, I think Brookdale is a nice facility, but I believe you can get better value for your money. Shop around, investigate and make the right choice for your family's situation. Knowing everything I know now, I would not likely choose Brookdale.
