We decided to investigate a senior independent living facility. My wife kept detailed financial records, so it was a minor exercise to determine our detailed monthly cost of living. We were surprised to find that our current cost of living was very close to the monthly fee at Porters Neck Village. We then made a second analysis including services provided at PNV that we were not currently taking advantage of: house cleaning, pool and full fitness facilities with live fitness training, 24-hour security and emergency health care, transportation to off-site activities, etc. etc. etc. The decision was made for us. It would cost us hundreds of dollars more a month to add these services to our current lifestyle. We would be foolish not to take advantage of them by moving to PNV. We have lived at PNV for nine years now and have never regretted the move.
