Joe and Flossie Jernigan founded Jernigan Funeral Home in Dunn, North Carolina, in 1930. Two years later they moved their business to the 500 Block of Hay Street in Fayetteville, and then to 206 Gillespie Street, where the business remained until 1958, when the present Funeral Home was built at its location on Ramsey Street. This building was renovated in the early 1970s, creating larger visitation rooms and additional offices.
In 1946, Charles Warren, Joe and Flossie Jernigan's nephew, purchased a one-third interest in the business, and upon Joe Jernigan's retirement in 1952, Charles Warren and Flossie Jernigan became co-owners. Mrs. Jernigan passed away in 1989, and Charles Warren became sole owner.
We didn't have a terrible experience with the funeral Home. However, we requested only cremation. No services as our father wished. It was not disclosed to us that he would be sent out to another facility for cremation bc JW had burned their facility. They charged us a total of $3500 for a simple cremation. Unfortunately, a short 3 weeks later, our mother also passed. We had her taken to Cape Fear Crematorium and they informed us that they had also received our dad and done his cremation for JW. The cost for mom at CF cremation was $1600. We wish we had known considering we paid $2000 more for the same exact service! And the manager wouldn't speak with my husband nor even entertain a partila discount after we found this information out! We are already grieving, and we feel they are taking advantage of us during such a vulnerable and sad time of our lives losing both parents. We just want people to be informed. They are nice there but be informed that you are getting the same service for triple the cost!

Words can’t express how thoughtful and wonderful the staff was here for my Father Earl Bhattan’s funeral. A special recognition for Mr. Lynnie. He was absolutely wonderful to work with. Everything we asked for he provided. They even let us bring our own instruments to play live music in the chapel. Thank you for your professionalism and hospitality. You all did a phenomenal job and we couldn’t be more happy with our choice to go with Jernigan. Thank you for your kindness in such a difficult time for our family. God bless you all!!

Losing a loved one unexpectedly is devastating. That being said you want to do everything in your power to give them the best going home and celebration of life! From the day we called into Jernigan Warren (the day of my grandmother’s passing we were scrambling because the hospital said we needed a funeral home to sign off on) we knew this was the place! Margaret was so kind on the phone and reassured us she would help us every step of the way! My mom was determined to give her mother the best funeral and Jernigan Warren did just that! Every detail was perfect from start to finish! Everyone in this place was fantastic, so caring and kind! Margaret did a wonderful job of communicating with us to keep us updated on the arrangements and also gave recommendations that were very helpful when picking out all the details. I will forever be thankful for Margaret and the Jernigan Warren team for helping us give my grandma the best going away tribute we could have ever imagined!
