Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are considered houses of God, a place of holiness and peace separate from the preoccupations of the world. They provide a place where Church members make formal promises and commitments to God. They are also the place where the highest sacraments of the faith occur — the marriage of couples and the "sealing" of families for eternity. Temples serve as the only place where ceremonies such as baptism and eternal marriage can be performed on behalf of those who have died. Temples point Latter-day Saints to Jesus Christ and their eventual life with Him.

"And that all people who shall enter upon the threshold of the Lord's house may feel thy power, and feel constrained to acknowledge that thou hast sanctified it, and that it is thy house, a place of holiness."
Announced, built, and dedicated in the 1990s - this House of the Lord still stands beautifully off of the side of a busy freeway as a loving reminder that even in the midst of a loud and busy world, we can still take time to feel peace and loving reassurances from God that He loves all of His children.
I'm just in St. Louis for a few days for work and couldn't help but stop by just to sit outside on a bench and enjoy being here for a few moments.
This is a beautiful temple (they're all beautiful) and everyone should take an opportunity to visit the grounds. It appears that they're currently doing some work around the temple. While the building is closed, the grounds are still open.
