Lived here when I was 17, was horrible. Intern staff did not care about you because they wouldn’t get paid they where just there to finish there volunteer hours not because they cared about us. The night staff where worse, we needed an ambulance for one of the tennager living in the shelter and because we did not have our phones at night so one payed attention on the camera that we needed medical help
. The staff that should of been “supervising” was out on a smoke. it took over 15 minutes to get them to even look at the cameras. I will never forget this and it had to be said. When I would speak about me being hit in the middle of the night by the other teenagers they would tell them and the intern staff would call me a “snitch” when they should of been protecting me isn’t that the whole point of the shelter. Your better off somewhere else than in here.

Waited 2 week to get into the shelter, got a bed reserved (which they “don’t do”) and after a hour and half of getting my hopes up in the intake, my needs were “too much” as I didn’t have a place to go afterwards. Then what is an emergency shelter for? I have nowhere to stay as a 17 year old and shelters won’t even accept me. Further the bridge for youth spreads misinformation to non-family members, claiming I didn’t want to stay.

Horrible. Threw my babies stuff away. Always had my baby waiting by herself to even get noticed because of her color. Just horrible. When we first wanted to get in they almost told me and my baby no because of our color because we had done nothing wrong.
