At The Goddard School located in Silver Spring, we're more than just a daycare. The Goddard School is a private preschool, offering childcare to infants and toddlers to pre-k. Our programs are designed to nurture each child's curiosity in a safe and caring environment.
We’ve had our kids at the Goddard School in Silver Spring since the day it opened, and it’s been a great experience over the past 10 years. The school has always focused on growth, learning, and a strong curriculum. All of our kids were reading and doing basic math before starting public kindergarten, and they were well-prepared for the structure and expectations of elementary school.
Goddard teachers also do a great job helping kids learn how to interact with others and build good behavior habits. We’ve appreciated how they think about when to move a child to the next classroom and how to keep them challenged. Summers are full of fun activities too—field trips, water days, visitors—and the enrichment classes have always been interesting for our kids, like Spanish, chess, sign language, yoga, and music.
Overall, we’ve been really happy with our experience and have recommended the school to other families in the area.

The Goddard School has been a wonderful place for early learning and care. The teachers are warm, responsive, and model emotional intelligence alongside academics. The school is very well run thanks to Ms. Harvey and Ms. Landa's leadership and Ms. Hart and Ms. Dazzo's dedication. Kids here not only learn math and reading, but, more importantly, how to be kind, thoughtful classmates from amazing teachers such as Ms. Brown, Ms. Taurone, and Ms. Silva. The transition to kindergarten for our family was seamless thanks to the strong foundation built here. We’re grateful for the supportive community and excellent leadership, staff, and teachers!

What is a typical day at The Goddard School like?
In each classroom, we provide hands-on, playful, child-centered learning experiences that vary based on the children’s levels of development. Teachers help children grow into happy, healthy, intelligent little humans who are ready to take on the world around them.
For infants, we follow the care schedule set by your family and utilize personal care moments to connect with and expand your little one’s individual development. Our teachers also incorporate songs, finger play, books and sensory and physical exploration each day.
Our busy toddlers flex their independence as they learn to walk, talk and safely explore the world around them. Their curiosity and interests drive the classroom structure.
In our preschool and pre-k classrooms, we add more school preparation and readiness by focusing on academic skills as well as interpersonal and collaboration skills. Teachers support children as they investigate the world around them. Children learn how to ask and answer questions, work with others, navigate social situations and understand and communicate their own thoughts and feelings.
Our teachers expertly create supportive classrooms for all children to safely learn and test new social, academic and physical skills throughout a typical routine that includes morning and afternoon snack time, lunch, naptime, exploration time, small and large group experiences and outdoor play.
