- APApril Hamm (Michaela Parker)Sep 29, 20175.0I always enjoy services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Pastor Gnuse is informative and kind and never preachy. As a faculty member at Loyola University, I love that Pastor Gnuse shares historical information about biblical text to help put passages and parables that could be confusing into better context - without being too academic. His charismatic presentations with replicas if biblical artifacts are very engaging for both children and adults. Although Good Shepherd is small in numbers, this church is mighty in spirit and love. All are welcome and accepted as they are. I also love that women have opportunities for leadership, and friends of the church are loved as much as members. Birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and baptismal anniversaries are announced in the weekly bulletins and celebrated every month. Children's ministries include puppet kits, plays, music, and bible study. I have also enjoyed the fun, family friendly events like Ugly Sweater Day, Hat-A-Tude, and a Hawaiian themed luau. The pastor's family also hosts a fall bonfire and spring picnic at their home every year. Musicians include a flutist, guitarist, pianist, cantors, and of course the congregation! I highly recommend visiting. This is a church that feels like home.
