If I am limited to words, then I will certainly run over. First, I attempted to report this business to the Better Business Bureau, but not surprisingly, they are not accredited by the BBB. Briefly, we initiated cremation services on 3 Jan 25 at 2pm for my sister who was killed on New Years Day. Mark Vargo was all business on the phone. In person, he toned it down a bit more. We did what needed to be done. He stated "mid week" for us to pick up the cremains. I called the office on Tuesday afternoon. The lady who answered was very impersonal. She stated "she has been cleared for cremation" but offered no further information. When I asked about an update, she stated "well, it's only Monday" when in fact it was Tuesday. She continued to be cold and impersonal. She stated "Wednesday or Thursday, but by the end of the week". I was preparing to return to my home state and told her that it could NOT be Friday. Pretty much, the call ended in a "don't call us we'll call you". Wednesday came and went without ANY communication or update. I didn't call because I could not bring myself to become as agitated as I did on Tuesday. Thursday came-no call, no update, no communication. So-I called close to 3 pm. A younger woman answered-very aloof, very impersonal. I asked to be given an update, she placed me on hold. When she returned, get this, she stated "we have the remains here, we just have to put them in the urn. Oh yeah, the death certificates are here, too". If you are not as upset as I was after reading this interaction so far, then society is beyond salvage. I told her, when can we pick it up. "Uh, maybe 4" but this answer was posed more like an unsure question. In summary-this was NOT the way a company conducts themselves in a families' time of need. We were NOT waiting for the cable guy! The lack of empathy, sympathy, and just plain professionalism has scarred us at the worst time of our live. Had we been a family dependent on the generosity of others for transportation, we would have been in a bad spot. I will file a complaint with the Funeral Association in Tallahassee because this can NOT go unreported. If you seek the services of this company, put someone in charge that does not have a direct tie to the deceased, because their feelings will not be respected as they should be.

The care, attention to detail and consideration was exceptional. We were facing a very difficult time with a potentially challenging family dynamic. Mark, Linda and their team created an amazing experience for our family and end of life services for our mother that she would have loved. Thank you.

Choosing a funeral home and deciding on funeral services come at the most difficult time of your life. But the compassion, care, and personal attention and service we received from Southern Care staff was wonderful. Mark Vargo and his team literally took us by the hand and walked us through each and every step. The visitation room is beautifully appointed and was very comfortable for receiving family and guests. I highly recommend them.
