I have to say your reply is quite astonishing because you absolutely did NOT communicate “directly with our residents and their responsible parties!” My mother who was directly responsible for my father’s placement at your facility did not receive a single phone call from anyone at your establishment the entire week he was hospitalized after falling at your facility when he was incoherent with a fever. I don’t think replying via text message, “bless his heart” an hour and half after my sister informed you of his diagnosis constitutes direct communication, nor displays the upmost care about the well-being of your residents! Yes, my address is out town, but I have been staying with my parents for the past two months overseeing my father’s care, including being at the ER with him both nights he was transported from your facility! And NO your nurse on staff did not communicate with my father directly, nor did she even make an appearance in his room to check on him when I reported he had a fever! I know because I was there! Really, pull the wool over someone’s else’s eyes! I witnessed firsthand my father sitting in his room alone staring out the window while the other residents were eating in the dining area. No one came into his room to communicate directly with him or check on why he hadn’t come out of his room for dinner! I had to request a meal for him after dinner! Please just do me a favor and don’t act like you care when your actions certainly don’t convey it! Even your response to my message is scapegoating! Please I implore you to get some empathy training for your staff, learn how to truly communicate directly with the responsible parties, hire nurses who administer medication that’s been ordered, & actually check on residents who are reported being ill when their loved ones bring it to the nursing staff’s attention! Then you might have a reputable business!

I have been looking for months for a facility for my aunt. I had the pleasure of being assisted by Bridget Conkin. She was more helpful than anyone I have spoken with. She send me additional information to assist with my search. She was truly amazing!!! Thank you, Maggie Azar

I have used this opening line before, usually with a negative review. You only get one opportunity to make a good first impression. This time the administrative staff at Brookdale Southpoint made a very good first impression. Starting with Veruschka when we were first looking for a place for my wife's father who was being discharged from a rehab facility with just a weeks notice and no place to go. She was very knowledgeable of all the details of her facility, very friendly and patient with all our questions, even going so far as to provide her cell phone number and telling us if we had any other questions to call her at anytime. The first place we took my father-in-law did not work out after less than 24 hours. We called Veruschka just to find she was off that day, but she spent a good portion of time helping us coordinate a pre-weekend move. She is such an Angel. She put us in touch with Stephanie, the Executive Director, and prepped her for our call, then Stephanie took over and went out of her way to help us out of a desperate situation, even adjusting the deadline for getting my wife's Dad moved in, twice. She coordinated the nursing help that would be needed to get us in the door and then the help he would need after our arrival. This brings us to Lonnie 2, personally I think he should be Lonnie 1, but I haven't met Lonnie 1 yet. Both main nurses are named Lonnie and I hope to meet Lonnie 1 soon. Lonnie 2 was there as soon as we walked in the door with a wheel chair for my father-in-law to borrow and assisted him in getting into the building. He treated my father-in-law like a real human and with a sense of humor instead of as a burden or an interruption to his routine. What a wonderful man. This transfer into the Brookdale facility was not a typical transaction for them or us. We had just moved my wife's father into a foster home facility the previous evening and got a call before 8:00 am the next morning stating that could not care for him and we had to get him out of there immediately. Four hours later and with the help of the Brookdale staff as mentioned above we had a place for him to go, but that was not the end of our ordeal, we still had the paperwork to do and what a mountain of paperwork. Stephanie was there to help every step of the way, she was extremely patient with all my questions and had clear and precise answers to all my concerns, even those she had never receive before. After more than 8 hours of exhausting phone calls and return calls and the help of the Brookdale staff, my father-in-law had a place to stay instead of being homeless, on a day that Brookdale does not normally allow move ins. That is what I call going above and beyond. 5 stars are not enough. Also kudos to Melvin the maintenance manger for asking my father-in-law about his desires in prepping his apartment. While I was doing the paperwork, my wife had the chance to meet quite a bit of the floor staff and she was just as impressed with them as I was with the administrative staff. I am sorry we cannot remember all their names so that they could get the recognition they deserve, but I maybe be able to post more later. One last comment, as we were leaving, it was not quite dinnertime but they allowed him to enter the dinning room early and greeted him by name on his very first day. Thank you Raven for making him feel special.

My mom is in memory care at Brookdale Southpoint. No matter when I visit, she is always clean, groomed, and active doing something with other residents or members of the staff. Her cognitive abilities have remained consistent now and I am so appreciative of the dedication and hard work the staff puts in each day. My phone calls are always returned and the entire staff is helpful and friendly. I am able to sleep soundly at night because I know mom is in capable hands. My sincerest thanks to all staff members at Brookdale Southpoint. I know your jobs can be exhausting, but you do it with a smile and I admire your dedication to the people who depend on you every day.
