If you are very lucky, they will grow old gracefully, contentedly and safely in the beautiful independent living community - Brookdale North Boulder. I have been a caregiver all of my life, including a successful career as a Director in the senior living industry. I have been privileged to experience over eleven different communities in CO but, Brookdale North Boulder is very unique- there is magic here! Perhaps it is the architecture that boasts three separate atriums all with three story high atriums with skylights that bring sunshine to all who enter. But, I believe, it is truly the staff and residents who make this community the happiest place in Colorado. The ageing process is complicated; but the staff here is united, well trained, understands the needs of the residents and have the compassion to put the residents first and foremost above their own needs or egos. The residents, on the other hand, are simply incredible! They appreciate the staff because they know we respect them and they return the feelings ten-fold. The community is a "family" and support each other with love and respect. For instance, recently a residents beloved pet reached the end to its life; several of the residents went with the pet parent to the vet to offer love and support during this tragic time. When they returned from the vet, without the pet, the residents and staff were waiting at the door to offer their love, hugs and support. There are an endless list of examples equally as touching as this story. One of the marvelous highlights of this community is a policy whereby all residents and staff members give and receive, at minimum, seven hugs per day! You will not find a resident, staff member, visitor or family member who objects to this "heart-to-heart connection" - it truly brings the magic to Brookdale North Boulder. Sherry Ryan
