I've had three experiences with "volunteers" coming to my door that have really left a bad impression. I moved into my home 8 months ago and this has happened 3 times, escalating each time to this final encounter. Two young men show up on my porch and knock. It's always around 8pm. My dog barks and barks and barks. I answer the door and they explain who they are (Volunteers for LDS church) and that they are looking for (the previous owner). I let them know that we bought the house and she moved to Florida in March. Please stop coming to my door. I've been told that they can't take my address off their list until I provide the previous owner's forwarding address. That is asinine. First off, I don't have it. Second, I would never give out someone else's personal information without their permission. I've asked for contact information for their boss, they say they don't have a boss, since they are volunteers. I asked for contact information for their volunteer coordinator, they say they don't really have one. I've explained how awful this looks from my point of view - I'm a woman, home along with small children, my husband is deployed and they are coming after dark and telling me, basically, that until I give them information that I don't have, they'll likely keep doing this. You can contact me to resolve this, but the next time this happens, I will be contacting the police. This has gone beyond trying to get in touch with a former parishioner and into harassment of someone who has nothing to do with your church. I have no soliciting sign on my porch also. Will your organization please respect private property and "NO" when it's used.
