I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated with our experience at Primrose at Waterford. Unfortunately, the school has lost my trust in its ability to uphold its core values.
We initially chose Primrose so our daughter—an only child—could build meaningful relationships with peers her age. During our last teacher conference in May, we received positive feedback and were told she was progressing well. No concerns were raised at that time.
In June, a large group of students, including our daughter, transitioned to a new classroom for the summer. We’ve always appreciated the variety of activities offered during this period.
Now in August, just 2 months later, I found out that our daughter—and one other child—would not be advancing to the pre-K classroom with the rest of her peers. When I approached the director for clarification, I was told our daughter was not yet able to write her name or regulate her emotions—concerns that had never been previously shared with us. I was shocked and disappointed that these issues weren’t communicated earlier, when we could have supported her development at home.
If you’re considering this school, I strongly recommend meeting with the director early on to clearly document your expectations and goals for your child’s experience.
Update: I’ve since learned that the decision not to advance certain students was made to accommodate over 7+ new enrollments into the pre-K program. It’s deeply upsetting that Primrose prioritized new admissions over their existing students.
