  The team was prompt courteous and considerate. The repair first had to be exposed and evaluated: it was to the water service adjacent to space heating piping. Experience intuition and skill enabled a direct location and repair. The procedures and work were explained and questions answered with good communication. I appreciate that all correctible conditions were addressed as encountered in the course of the repair.

  Had a new boiler installed and the electrical wiring was down incorrectly. Ricardo came out today and was able to rewire it correctly. Would definitely recommend him for future service.

  They charged me an extra $500 without my consent or permission and when I tried to call them out on this they told me "tough luck" and hung up on me. I am a disabled combat veteran so five hundred dollars is a pretty big deal to me.

  BEWARE!! Tried a low cost furnace tune-up for $59 and regretted it. Technician came with a trainee and spent almost 1 hrs. Technician showed the many photos, over a dozen, of the 19 year+old furnace (Lenox) and said there were some problems that were a concern. Lifetime is 20-22 years, maybe 25 with great maintenance. But we had some leaking and the exchanger had rust and some small (pin head) holes that could affect the performance. They closed up the furnace and said I should think about a replacement in the next 1-2 years. Also they did put in a filter that I had previously bought. Now the NIGHTMARE began....our Lenox furnace that had been operating fine till the tune-up would not turn on or produce any heat. WHAT?? I called Burkhardt office and spoke with a receptionist who eventually passed me on to a manager. The temp was to go down to low 50's and the house was already getting colder. The manager began by discounting my story and stating that her technicians found numerous problems with the furnace. I advised her that the furnace was working fine up until her people did a purely preventative tune-up. I demanded that someone return after 630pm that same day (due to our other obligations). Another technician eventually arrived and after about 30 minutes diagnosed the problem as having been caused by the tune-up guys replacing the cover and pinching a wire that shorted out a circuit board, thereby rendering the furnace useless. Technician was honest that it was Burkhardt's fault. He said he didn't have the part but would return the next day and get the furnace back to running. So we spent a cold night with extra blankets and extra sweatshirts. The next day it was repaired and the Technician profusely apologized for his coworker ineptitude. There was no charge (obviously) for the extra visits or the replacement parts. We did decide to get a new furnace but BURKHARDT HEATING was not one of the companies we got estimates from. So they lost a $6k possible sale! This is NOT the end of the story. Several days later I noticed that the charge went thru for $59 for the tune-up! I was livid! I called and eventually was forwarded to the manager I had previously spoken to. She did reverse the charge but offered no other compensation for the 2 days of no heat caused by her people. All I can say is BEWARE of companies who rely on untrained technicians. I would like to think that the damage done to my furnace was accidental but my law enforcement background leaves me skeptical. If it was intentionally done.... YOU PICKED THE WRONG GUY!
