Buyer Beware – Extremely Unethical and Scare-Based Practices
I scheduled a $72 furnace tune-up with Healthy Home for my 3-year-old, high-end Trane furnace. What I experienced was not a tune-up, but an aggressive attempt to scare me into unnecessary and expensive repairs.
The technician was at my home for over 2½ hours, yet I never saw him:
Clean the condensate trap
Clean the igniter
Clean the flame sensor
(Items that are standard on a routine tune-up.)
He stated my static pressure was “too high” and repeatedly called a field supervisor, who arrived about 30 minutes after tech called him.
The field supervisor immediately began discussing risks and dangers, then claimed my heat exchanger was cracked and rusted. This made no sense to me for a furnace that is only 3 years old and has been serviced annually since it was installed.
When I asked Why my CO detector (located near the furnace) was not alarming, the field supervisor then asked the tech if his CO detector went off, the tech confirmed it did not. I asked for more clarification and did not get a response.
The supervisor then pulled out a tape measure and began measuring my ductwork. When I asked why, he said it was to replace my ductwork— I said in a 21-year-old home where no company has ever suggested duct replacement?
When I asked how they could confirm a cracked heat exchanger, I was quoted over $2,300 to “verify and replace” it. I was told they could start work the next day, and then order parts if needed. I was told to Turn my furnace off and I said well it is winter and I do need heat, I was told they would provide space heaters to heat my home and that they have them in the techs van.
When I asked about warranty coverage, I was told they would “check” and work it out later—despite Trane having a lifetime heat exchanger warranty, which I pointed out.
After they left, I immediately contacted:
A home inspector
The manager of the company that installed the furnace
A retired HVAC tech (formerly with Four Seasons, before Healthy Home took over)
All stated it was extremely unlikely the heat exchanger was cracked, that I was not in danger, and strongly recommended a second opinion.
I then had another reputable company perform a tune-up. The technician:
Cleaned the condensate trap, sensors, and igniter
Completed the service in about 40 minutes
Confirmed static pressure was normal
Found NO issues with the heat exchanger
Confirmed my ductwork is more than adequate
When I explained why I was concerned, he simply shook his head and said he has heard many similar stories about Healthy Home and their scare tactics, though they cannot speak publicly about it.
Final warning:
Do not be fooled by Healthy Home’s cheap $72 tune-up. It is not a value—it’s a sales tactic. Spend the extra $30–$40 with a reputable, trustworthy HVAC company and avoid the stress, fear, and unethical upselling I experienced.

Savanna was great. Professional and informative throughout the tune up. Very knowledgeable. She would be welcome into my home anytime for repairs or service. She made my wife feel at ease. She would love Savanna for our next appointment.
This was the first time we had Healthy Home Heating and Cooling in our home tuning up our furnace. Scheduling was super easy, received text alerts notifying us a technician was on the way and we knew when they would arrive. We also received reminder call the week of appointment. Communication and professionalism were BIG for us when looking for another HVAC company to service our furnace, and everything went smoothly with no hiccups.
We will schedule next appointments with them!

Scam. Spent two hours in my home for a yearly tune up. Telling me false information about what is “wrong” with my furnace and my ac. Never asked for them to look at the ac since it’s December. The individual was on the phone a lot talking to someone, not sure about what but was very skeptical.
Had a local company come out shortly after to look at what health homes claimed to be needed service. Everything was a lie and I was told a lot of other companies are getting calls from individuals with the same issues. Just trying to get us to spend money with them on things that aren’t broken. A maintance service should only take 20-30 mins not two hours! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

I would not recommend this company. We had an extremely kind HVAC technician out for a service call to fix our furnace. They fixed our furnace quickly on a very cold day!
After servicing, the tech offered a “permanent fix” to our system, and gave us 3 quotes, one at 16k, one at 11k, and one at 6k. That, or for $1200, they could clean the evaporator coil and fan. I thought the prices were high, and called my father, a retired HVAC technician/HVAC business owner. I told him about the dirty fan and coil and how they said it could impact how the system is running, and he opened up the furnace to take a look. The coil he took a picture of looked nothing like the picture the tech showed me. The tech showed me a brown dirty coil and fan. My dad, without cleaning it, took a photo and showed me a perfectly white coil. This makes me wonder if the company keeps a stock photo of a dirty coil/fan to show customers. The tech did fix our problem, but I would get a second opinion before making a major decision with your furnace.
