Edit:
I originally gave this review 2-stars for everything listed below this edit. I had to cut some of the original review because Google has a character max on its reviews.
Since then, I was contacted by John in the office who went over my concerns. He stated he would send the crew back out to correct any issues. I later received a call from Mark, one of the main project managers. He stated he wanted to come by, prior to the crew returning, to walk the roof and discuss the issues. This way he could have a detailed report to give the crew to ensure everything was top notch. The crews later arrived and corrected the issues. I therefore increased my review to a 3-star. I think this is fair seeing as the issues still occurred which caused issues on my end, but correcting what they could shows they care.
The crew leader also had a heart-to-heart with his crew and hopefully issues like this won't happen in the future.

I don't usually write reviews but I felt this one was warranted. I am a very patient customer, VERY, but this roofing job that Retex did recently requires some attention. I've used Retex twice, once about 18-24 months ago, for a new roof and siding on a rental I had, and just this past month for a new roof on my personal home. The roofing and inspection on the rental came back with some minor misses that Retex fixed no issue, I don't expect perfection so that's fine. They also repaired some rotted wood soffits that weren't in the original scope and didn't charge for it. I though this was great so I called them up for my personal home.
Retex sent Chris out to quote to the job and I brought up the issues I had with the first project, just to bring it to his attention, and he was receptive and stated this job would be done right. Then the issues began. The job was delayed due to weather, which is fine. The materials were delivered the day before the project and placed at the end of my driveway. The unused materials, once the job was complete, sat there for weeks, with no communication as to when it would be collected. Disintegrating cardboard boxes and all.
They then ordered the wrong sized skylights and tried to get me to pay the upcharge for a specialty size, which still wouldn't fit properly. Retex found a size that was close enough and planned to build a box around the current skylights meaning the outside was going to be larger than the inside, not a great solution but I accommodated.
When the new skylights finally came in 2-3 weeks later, they were still the wrong size. This is when I decided enough was enough. I spoke with the project manager about these issues and she drove to Norfolk to get the proper sized windows and flashing. Their plan was to reuse the existing skylight boxes and just replace the windows, this was news to me. Typically when you request something be replaced, I don't just mean on the surface, I expected new boxes, flashing, etc.
When they came out to finish the skylights and finally clean the debris, the project manager spoke with my wife as I was indisposed, but merely mentioned they were there to finish the work. To my knowledge, there was no apology, no explanation, no attempt to make this situation right, just get in and get out.
When I went out for my final inspection, the wood siding that I have (which is starting to rot around the roofline, I'll admit) is quite damaged, my screen door leading to my deck is damaged, a gutter downspout was knocked off and is lying on the ground and I am consistently finding nails, bits of flashing, tar paper, etc. throughout the yard and on my driveway. The nails on the driveway is a huge concern for flat tires. The siding is understandable, but I feel the job would have been done better if they approached me and told me the extent of the damage and suggest they replace the pieces. The contract states that they are not responsible for certain bits of damage, but I would have happily paid to replace pieces of siding at my expense, since they were already out here.
