What a joke. Technician Spencer has no idea what he's doing. This company will cost you a fortune and leave you furious. A simple A/C diagnostics call turned into a creepy and bad all around experience. Blue Best came out and fixed this mess. Call them first.

I’ve used this company since 2022. In 22 I replaced the contactor, in 2023, fan motor, in 24 regular service. And today, another fan motor. All together I’ve spent 1464 with this company including today. I keep telling them that something is going on with the overall unit but they say nothing else is wrong. I will see if I have to call them for a major repair in less than 2 years. Because this is abnormal behavior for a unit that’s not that old. 2016.
How do I know what is the best air conditioning, heater, furnace, and/or complete system for my home?
It depends on the size of your home, whether you require a gas or electric system, the SEER rating, your budget, and your preferred brand.
What is a SEER rating?
SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating, defined by the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute in its standard ARI 210/240, Performance Rating of Unitary Air-Conditioning and Air-Source Heat Pump Equipment.
What does the SEER rating mean to me as a consumer?
Simply put, the higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the unit/system will run, which will save you money in the long run. However, a higher SEER unit/system will cost a bit more upfront.
My air conditioner is not cooling. What should I do?
You may want to try these fixes before contacting us:
The FIRST thing you should do is check your filters. Clogged filters can cause your air conditioner to shut down.
Check your breaker(s) and the batteries in the thermostat.
Ensure nothing is blocking the air handler in the attic.
For good maintenance, turn OFF the system at the breaker and wash out the exterior coil. (FYI: When mowing, avoid discarding grass into the unit as this can clog and damage it.)
If the problem persists or you are not confident completing these checks, call us. We are always happy to help!
How often should I change my filter(s)?
We recommend replacing your filters every 30 days during our hot Texas summers. Use a pleated filter (not too cheap, but not top-of-the-line either). This is a very easy and cost-effective way to maintain your system.
What brand(s) do you recommend?
This depends on each dealer and supplier, as different deals and incentives are offered. Everyone has a preferred product. We primarily recommend Comfortmaker because it is the brand the owner of Cool Climate, Carl, has installed in his own home, which makes it a logical recommendation.
If I pay more for a brand, does that mean it is a better quality of equipment?
Yes, some products are made better than others. However, sometimes you are paying for the luxury of a particular name. Research which brands have lesser-known affiliated brands, as these "off-brands" can offer excellent quality at a lower cost. Tip: Just like with cars, consider whether you mind paying more for brand-name parts and supplies, as these costs can add up over time.
Why does Freon cost so much?
The cost has dramatically increased due to a rise in the price of R-22, the most common Freon refrigerant in older air conditioning systems. Prices for R-22 Freon have more than doubled this year and have increased by more than 500% since January 2003.
Why have the prices increased so much?
In January 2010, the EPA banned the manufacture of new air conditioners using R-22 due to its ozone-depleting effects. While the use of R-22 was not banned, it can only be produced or imported for servicing existing equipment. Consumption must be reduced by 90% by January 2015 and by 99.5% by January 2020. Production of R-22 will be banned starting January 2020. In January 2012, the EPA proposed a significant reduction in R-22 production and distribution, leading to sharp price increases this year. Owners of systems containing R-22 should expect costs to continue rising dramatically over the next 5-10 years as supplies diminish.
Our energy bill seems high; how will I know if I need more insulation?
As a general rule, a good 12 inches of loose insulation is recommended to provide better savings on your utilities.
How do I determine the best air conditioning or heating system for my home?
Choosing the best system depends on your home's size, gas or electric needs, SEER rating, budget, and brand preference.
What is a SEER rating and why is it important?
SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating and indicates the efficiency of air-conditioning and heat pump equipment. Higher SEER ratings mean more efficient systems that save money long-term.
What should I do if my air conditioner is not cooling properly?
First, check and replace clogged filters, check breakers and thermostat batteries, and ensure air handler is unblocked. Clean the exterior coil by turning the system off at the breaker. If issues persist, call us for professional help.
How often should I change my air filters?
It's recommended to replace air filters every 30 days, especially during hot Texas summers, using pleated filters for effective maintenance.
What brands of HVAC equipment do you recommend?
We primarily recommend Comfortmaker, the brand our owner uses at home, but brand recommendations depend on dealer incentives and preferences.
Why has the cost of Freon increased so much recently?
Freon costs have risen due to EPA restrictions on R-22 production to protect the ozone layer, leading to reduced supply and higher prices.
Are emergency HVAC services available?
Yes, emergency services are available. Please call us directly for emergencies, as other communication forms are not checked until the next business day.
