We have just started using Meridian Stone for our clients and have only good things to say. Their fabrication, installation and service is top notch! I recommend them wholeheartedly. Additionally, I just had them install an extremely difficult floor-to-ceiling porcelain slab (actually, two slabs) to my showroom wall with a book-matched seam that is nearly imperceptible. They nailed it! The skill to do this is at a high level and I look forward to more of these.

Frequently Asked Questions About Meridian Stone + Countertops
How long does a countertop installation take?
The installation of a typical residential kitchen countertop generally requires between 1 to 3 hours to complete.
Which is better for my kitchen countertop, quartz or natural stone?
Both quartz and natural stone are excellent options for kitchen countertops. Natural stone offers a unique appearance, superior heat resistance, and requires periodic maintenance. Quartz, on the other hand, can be more cost-effective, features consistent patterns, needs no maintenance, but may be susceptible to heat damage.
How often do you need to seal natural stone?
An annual sealing application is recommended for natural stone countertops. However, certain daily cleaning products contain sealers that help maintain the stone's appearance. It's important to note that these products should not be used on quartz countertops.
Are quartz countertops resistant to stains and scratches?
Indeed, quartz countertops are highly resistant to stains and scratches. Their non-porous composition allows for easy removal of bacteria and spills with simple daily cleaning using soap and water.
Can I place a hot pot on my quartz countertop?
Quartz countertops are not heat-resistant, and direct heat exposure can cause permanent discoloration or damage. It is always advisable to use hot pads or trivets when placing hot items on quartz surfaces.
What types of finishes are available for quartz and natural stone?
Both quartz and natural stone offer multiple finish options: matte or honed for a modern, flat appearance; glossy or polished for a luxurious shine; and leathered for a textured look that effectively conceals imperfections.
Can I use the same material in my kitchen as my bathroom?
Using the same material in both kitchen and bathroom is a practical and cost-effective approach to home design and renovation.
Can I decide where my seam is located on my countertop?
While we strive to accommodate seam placement preferences, it's essential to inform the template technician of your desires. However, final placement decisions are based on maximizing slab usage and ensuring the countertop's structural integrity and strength.
Can I use marble for my kitchen countertops?
Marble can be used for kitchen countertops due to its aesthetic appeal. However, it's important to note that marble is prone to absorbing spills, scratching, and etching from acidic substances. It also has limited heat resistance. Some dense marble varieties, when properly sealed, can be suitable for kitchen applications.
What is quartz made from?
Quartz is an engineered stone composed of approximately 93-95% quartz and natural stone, bound together with polyester resin. Pigments are incorporated for color and veining, and occasionally, glass and metal are added for specialized designs.
