- JTJoseph TrameMar 1, 20221.0We contracted Vandalia Blacktop in August of 2020 to completely tear out our existing blacktop driveway (based on their statement that by doing this we would never have to worry about the drive again). We also had some additional blacktop installed. By the spring of 2021, several areas along one section of the driveway (where we never had a problem before) began cracking and softening. I tried several times to get Vandalia Blacktop to resolve the issue, but they only tried to find other reasons for the failure. They tried to say we had a commercial driveway, which wasn't true. They tried to say we had commercial trucks driving on it, which wasn't true. It became apparent they didn't want to make it right. We would not recommend Vandalia Blacktop for any work at this point. It is a shame because we had heard they were dependable. This wasn't a cheap driveway. When you pay over $29,000 for blacktop and within 8 months it is deteriorating you can only imagine why we were extremely disappointed. It is pretty obvious that compaction and fill wasn't applied properly in that one area. We are going to have to pay another contractor to fix their mistakes.
