They came over to change an expansion tank and a zone valve and bled the systems and the cost was 2700 bucks. Do not go there. You were going to get ripped off. And they didn’t clean up after their mess. Do not go there they’re not professional and they Are charging people overpriced stay away don’t get scammed by these people. Zone valves cost $100 expansion tanks cost $60 I guess there’s also labor cost which was a rip off because all this guy did was stand there and basically do nothing while he bled the systems. He was here for two hours and it should’ve been less than $1000. Do not go there or call them because all their technicians are young and they do not know what they’re doing.

Our boiler had been running nonstop and ended up heating our house to 77 degrees. Jordan was able to quickly diagnose there was a valve issue and pointed out several components that needed replacement including the pressure tank. Dimitri came to help on the repair and was also extremely knowledgeable and open to any questions we had. Jordan provided background on every part that needed replacing in granular detail prior to quoting service cost. Post repair Dimitri went on to explain the process and need to bleed the lines and provided background on our brand of boiler in detail. They also cleaned our unit thoroughly to the point it appears like an entirely different unit. Jordan and Dimitri are the utmost professionals and we are thankful for their service.

I will preface my review by stating that there is nothing wrong with the repair completed by the technician that came to my home. On Friday night (1/2/2026) I had a leak in the ceiling above my mechanical room. There is important equipment in that room including the HVAC system, hot water heater, and the water softening system.
We purchased the home in July of 2025 and the home is about 15 years old. I can see that there had been a previous repair in the ceiling because the sheetrock had been replaced. Once I pulled down that portion of sheetrock (approximately 2ft x 2ft) I can see an active leak in the red PEX hot water line. The line appeared to have been repaired at some point as the line had a brass coupling that joined the two pieces of PEX. The pieces of PEX were secured to the coupling using pinch clamps. It seems that clamp on the left had simply broken. As such, the hot water leaked from that tube. The problem was that the tube on the left was somewhat recessed and above a drain pipe. It was a tight space to work in. I tried to see if I could successfully engage a new pinch clamp as I have the proper tool. I just couldn’t get the proper angle. I went to Home Depot for ideas. They suggested something called a “Sharkbite” coupling but it leaked after I installed it.
I had turned of the water to my home. This was obviously a situation that couldn’t remain long-term. I called Astar. They had a technician there in under two hours. He took a look at the issue. He stated he would install a new piece of copper to join. the two pieces of PEX tubing together. His price quote…….,.$804.00 plus tax. I was floored. I reluctantly agreed. I needed the water on and I had family coming over later in the day. In the end, he used a piece of PEX tubing, a brass coupling on each end, and 4 pinch clamps to join the new PEX tubing to the existing. He was able to manipulate the existing tube and get a good enough angle to tighten the clamp. The actual repair took approximately 15 minutes and about $20.00 worth of materials.
While The job was done quickly and efficiently, I was so upset with myself for not getting it done myself. They followed up with a phone call this morning because I gave a neutral review. I explained that my review reflects the price, not the technician. They stated that they bill at a flat rate for a job. Excluding materials and set-up, they in essence worked at a rate of $700 per hour, which to me is simply a poor reflection of the business’s ethics. I have included pictures to better understand the scope of the repair. The picture with the white tube installed is the “After” picture.

I have been a long-term customer of A-star and I have always appreciated their promptness and professional service. Their team has always been courteous and extremely competent as they explain what repairs may be needed and welcome any questions I may have which they clearly answer in a layman’s terms.
Last December we came home from a trip only to discover our house was without heat and at a cold 30 degrees. The company promptly sent Dmitri who worked efficiently in diagnosing the problem and explained what repairs he would need to make and what the cost would be. In two hours our heat began working thanks to his competent skills.
One other factor that is important is the well-stocked service center. Because the parts were on hand locally, Dmitri was able to complete the job without our having to wait for essential parts to be ordered and shipped. That was a real advantage in getting our house warm quickly.

Our experience with Astar and there crew was great,
our hvac system stopped working after 30 plus years on monday the 23rd. Astar service techs come out earlier then expected to trouble shoot the issue, it was deterimed that a new hvac system was needed.
Within a few hours, Jeff Abraham their salesman was at our house giving us options. No pressure sales, great, friendly guy. He worked with our budget and answered our questions. He helped us get financed within minutes. Since the new system was going to be installed on christmas eve and we had plans ,he told us they would send out a 3 man crew to complete the job.
The next day , as promised a 3 man crew showed up on time.
Scott Damms , Gabriel Pina and Thomas Zerilli. These guys were great, friendly and work well together as a team. Drop cloths were placed down and they worked neatly thru out the day. Thomas the lead tech, talked me thru the installation process and answered all my questions. They worked non stop, took a quick lunch, and completed the job earlier then excepted, which was great. Thomas gave me a quick lesson on how to use the new equipment, they cleaned up all there tools and supplies, Removed and took away the old hvac system.
Very happy. Good job guys !
