  My HVAC pump malfunctioned over Christmas. I contacted them online and they communicated with me via text right away to find a time to come and service it. The repairman was actually able to come early, and though it cost a little more than I was hoping for, it was only because the original work that was done by a previous property owner was not properly/legally correct. I’m very pleased with the results.

  It has been my experience during my entire project that there is no such thing as an appointment. Promises, promises, but don't hold your breath. Either the employee(s) is pulled to another job and the "appointment" is rescheduled, or, if he does show up, it is never at the time promised. He has to finish another job before coming or some other reason. As for the workmanship, who knows. They are always returning to clean up some mistake so I'm still waiting to experience the benefits of going solar.

He identified and fixed the plumbing problem that had caused trouble for a long time…something others had tried and failed to solve.   I was so impressed with the technicians that came to service our system. They were delayed all day which was hard but I’m sure they were helping people that also needed heat! They got to our house after 10pm knowing they’d have hours ahead of them. They were friendly, professional, not annoyed, and willing to make sure we had heat for the holidays! They had worked over a 14 hour day when they got to us, had a long drive to get home and an early morning ahead of them. I was so impressed with their attitudes- super great service and I can’t thank them enough. So glad I have a service agreement with Halco. It has been well worth it.

  With Halco, the initial workup by Matt Dennis and his partner was so positive, when for 20 years insulation contractors wouldn’t take the job of insulating the house’s exterior walls because there was already some 70-year-old cotton insulation in the walls, though blower door tests and infrared camera showed it wasn’t working. But Halco was willing to do it with dense-packed cellulose insulation for a reasonable price! I wanted the rim joists of the house insulated as well, and there was a NYSERDA incentive to do that if the attic had a qualifying insulation R-value. My attic didn’t, but Matt told me that adding the attic and rim joist insulation would get me the grant, which would nearly pay for those two additions! Finally, Matt agreed to consider a non-foam sealant and non-flammable insulation for the rim joist insulating work. All my needs were considered — that’s so rare these days. Carpenter Don came over to spec out parts of the work, and he gave me some further pointers about preparing for the job. Then Jennifer from Halco set the job up with an insulating team lead by Kevin — with Noah and Abe — and provided carpentry support from Don and Max. What teamwork, what craftsmanship, what willingness to address my desire to have a truly warm 70-year-old house — and they did a magnificent job on all aspects of the work, including removing and replacing my aluminum siding, protecting my interiors, sealing the rim joists and the attic, blowing in the cellulose into the walls and adding it around the perimeter of the attic (after building a “corral” to retain the floored part of the attic), and the cleanup and walkthrough at the end of the job!! I’m so impressed with these Halco people — Hal is definitely heading a “can-do” company with high quality work as the standard outcome, and its people make that happen! Thanks to you _all_ for a great experience and a superb outcome for a reasonable price which became even better with the NYSERDA incentive.
