I had promised John I would not leave a review. However, I feel morally obligated to share my bad experience with All Jersey Masonry & Construction, especially realizing that the excellent reviews you ask for can be deceiving. His reviews were great, except for those on Home Advisor. First, I would like to acknowledge that the workers did a great job. Unfortunately, Everything else was a very bad experience. Hereâ s my story: I had brick steps that were sinking, so John came to assess the situation. He gave a monologue stating how lucky I was that the steps did not need to be replaced for the cost would be $15K. He kept repeating this point over and over and then said how lucky I was that he could repair the steps for a â special priceâ of $4,400. I laughed at him to myself for this sales pitch really made him sound like an amateur but I wanted to get this done before the bad weather set in, so I agreed. Within an hour of starting the work, John informed me the steps were so bad that the mason who replaced them 30 years ago should be sued. He claimed that the steps had sunk an additional inch, then changed to half-inch in the last week â lol. He then spent several minutes repeating how bad they were until I interrupted him, telling him he was going around in circles and what was his point. He told me that the steps needed replacement, and after some negotiation, the new cost would be $12,000. He got me. I felt backed into a corner and reluctantly agreed. An hour and ten minutes later, after clearing my head, I called him back and asked to stop work because I wanted to get another estimate. I was told it is too late - the materials had already been ordered and were ready for pickup. I felt there was nothing I could do at that point. When the guys werenâ t on site, I obtained two other estimates: one was for $8K and the other 6K. Based on the before photos I was told that John should have known the steps would likely need a complete replacement. The original contract I signed was for a total of $4,400. The new price we agreed upon was $12,000. When it came time to write the check, John said it was $12,800, explaining that the extra $800 was tax â even though tax was never listed in the contract. I had assumed the tax was included since there was no line item for it. John stated that tax need not be listed in the contract for one should assume there would be a tax charge. I asked for a final invoice. The next day, I told John I hadnâ t received the invoice by email. He of course claimed it had been sent. I then asked him to mail it to me, but I never received it. I have not heard from him since but he would most likely say it was lost in the mail. What John did was a Bait-and-Switch tactic. He first made a big fuss planting a seed with the high price of 15K to replace the steps. Next, he made it seem like a great deal that he could repair them for $4,400, a fraction of the cost. By doing this he had to know the steps would ultimately need replacing. Johnâ s overly dramatic, elementary sales pitch should have raised red flags. Now that I look back I should have realized this. This was my fault for not only falling for a stereotypical used car sales pitch but also for not taking the time to get other estimates. Let the Buyer Beware! Donâ t be as stupid as I was. UPDATE1: Had to block John from constantly calling me asking to remove this review. UPDATE2: steps broke away from the porch. I called John and never heard back.Don't stop here, read reviews on Yelp and Home Advisor. Just a matter of time before he goes to jail.

Eh I wished I hired someone else. Gave me cheap quote and then basically got cornered when they start digging and saying it will cost more- way more. Other vendors were more upfront with their cost and expectations. His workers just leaving trash around. I found bottle caps and screws everywhere.

This company engages in highly unethical business practices. They promised a perfect patio but performed the work during the rain and left the job unfinished, with uneven edges. They also abandoned all construction waste on my driveway instead of removing it. The quality of the backyard work is subpar, with noticeable dips and an uneven slope. Furthermore, an individual named Joe/Matthew threatened me, stating, "I know where you live," to prevent me from posting a negative review. The reviews on Home Advisor are legitimate and reflect the poor quality of their work and their unprofessional conduct. If you are still considering hiring this company, you do so at your own risk. In addition to the issues previously mentioned, this contractor engages in a bait-and-switch pricing scheme. Before the contract is signed, he provides an initial quote. However, once the work has begun, he demands more money, even after his own workers have already informed him of all the necessary materials.

Mathew is an honest professional and I am grateful for his service and workmanship. He came and fixed a job quickly! I am so grateful for him and his workers. We had a raised paver patio installed.
