I booked a handicap-accessible portable toilet from United Site Services Raleigh location back in April for a very special occasion—our first annual July 4th cookout on newly purchased land. This wasn’t just a random event—it was a meaningful gathering with family and friends on land we worked hard for. I booked early, sent photos of the exact location for delivery, and received confirmation from their sales team that everything was fine. The booking process was handled professionally and politely, which gave me the impression I was in good hands. Unfortunately, that professionalism disappeared once the money was paid. On July 3rd, delivery day, I was in the kitchen prepping and cooking when the driver showed up. From the start, he had an attitude—complaining about the heat and saying that he was alone, so he would be placing the toilet wherever was easiest for him. He immediately dismissed our agreed-upon location, saying he didn’t feel like backing in or dealing with turning the truck around. The land is flat, grassy, and accessible from a gravel driveway—there were no real obstacles. This was just a matter of convenience, or rather, inconvenience for him. When I explained the toilet couldn’t go near the food setup, his response was, “Well, it won’t smell.” That alone was disrespectful, but the bigger issue was the attitude—he acted like this was his decision to make, not the customer’s. My spouse was on the phone and overheard everything. He finally told me to just let the guy put it wherever he wanted, and he’d move it later himself. That’s how worn down we were from dealing with this nonsense. Eventually, the driver agreed to place it where we originally wanted—but only if I helped him. Yes, after paying for a full-service rental, I had to help this man physically move the unit because he didn’t feel like doing his job. While we were moving it, he finally admitted, “I could’ve backed the truck in and placed it here like you asked, but I just didn’t feel like doing all that turning and backing up.” That apology didn’t feel sincere—it felt like confirmation that this whole issue wasn’t about ability or logistics, but about laziness and lack of care. To top it all off, the driver dragged gravel into the grass and inside the unit. I told him to just leave it and I’d clean it myself. He continued to complain while I was helping him, rushing me and making comments about how much heavier it would be after the event if he had to come back alone. Highly inappropriate and totally unprofessional. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because pickup was quiet and drama-free. But the stress, frustration, and effort I had to put in to simply get what I paid for was ridiculous. United Sires feels more like a construction-site vendor than a company suited for private events. If you’re planning something special where professionalism, courtesy, and service matter—look elsewhere. We have a family reunion planned for August and were hoping to build a relationship with this company for future rentals, but after this experience, that’s no longer an option. Do better.

Poor customer service, don't provide adequate toilet paper many weeks, increased prices by two-fold since buying out Readilite Barricade, took 2 months to come out to repair a toilet seat, and failed to fix a clogged hand sanitizer dispenser even after 2 phone calls complaining about it. I dropped them today, and I'm having another company service my business once a week for less than half the price ($95/month vs $235/month). I definitely would not recommend using United Site Services.

We have been working with a client in the North Hills area of Raleigh off and on since 2004. I spoke to the homeowner this morning and she said she really appreciated us hiring United Site Services for her porta potty. She said the unit has been serviced on a regular basis and she is very pleased. This is unlike the last company we used at her home. Thank you for being conscientious. It is appreciated.

This has been one of the most frustrating experiences I have had in taking over the management position within the organization I work for. The billing information is confusing between Readilite & Barricade, Inc. being on the actual invoice, but then when you call it is United Site Services? From what I can gather, they do not offer customer support 7 days a week and use a variety of call center options to route callers. I've called multiple times during the week and experienced an inconsistency of people knowing where to look in the notes or understanding the communication/instruction being provided. Calling on the weekend is a waste of time. They have some answering service picking up the phone, yet they cannot actually assist you. I would rather they have a voicemail system instead that notifies you of operating hours and allows you to leave a message. It's 2018 and I can't find the information to pay the bill online?! Now that I have researched rates for other portable restroom services I also know they are charging at least double the rate I can get with another company, which is primarily why I am going to be taking our business elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions About United Site Services

What are the guidelines for A.D.A. restrooms?

United Site Services offers portable wheelchair accessible restrooms that are A.D.A. compliant for use on a construction site, commercial area, or special event in some areas. Where available, our A.D.A. units are large enough and contain the proper elements to meet the standards that have been outlined by the 'Americans with Disabilities Act'. Specifically, the statute states that for single user portable toilets clustered at a single location, at least 5% but no less than one toilet unit shall be installed at each cluster whenever typical inaccessible units are provided. Accessible units shall also be identified by the International Symbol of Accessibility. The exception is that if portable toilet units are used exclusively by construction personnel who do not require the use of an A.D.A. unit, you are not required to comply with this statute. (Federal Register/Vol. 56, No. 144/July 26, 1991/Rules and Regulations/4.1.2 Accessible Site and Exterior Facilities: New Construction). For the complete set of A.D.A. guidelines relating to portable restrooms, please contact our office or view our Regulations page.

How much does it cost to rent a Porta Potty?

There are a few factors to consider that can affect the total Porta Potty rental price. What is the length of my event, hours, days, weeks, months? The length of time the unit will actually be in use directly affects how many toilets you might need to order. Weekend event portable toilets and sinks are typically delivered on a weekday leading up to the event and picked up on a weekday following the event. Weekend delivery, service or pickup is available at an additional charge. Upgrades, like flushing toilet restrooms or restrooms with hand wash sinks will be at a higher rental rate than basic Porta Potty rentals. A.D.A. accessible restrooms might be required for your public event, large or small. The standards that have been outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act state that for single user portable toilets clustered at a single location, at least 5% but no less than one A.D.A. accessible portable toilet shall be provided at each cluster. If you are on a construction job site, you will need to follow A.N.S.I. restroom requirements for the number of toilets needed on site.
