We are presently 'in process' with our restoration, so the final story of our restoration can be explained at a later time.
Background: We have had house insurance for over 25 years, for 7 houses in 3 provinces. We have never had to avail of this service or had to deal with a claim. So, this is a first for us. Our insurance gave us a choice of two Restoration companies, with ServiceMaster being one of them.
The basement of our house is the affected location...a water pipe leak...supply line.
Basically, step one is removal of items in the affected area, and this was done very well. Hey, even a jacket was washed at their facility....that was nice, but they do not do the dishes, which would be a big plus! {Joke}.
After item removal, it will be demolition. That has been done well, with one exception: The floor under the tub was removed due to water damage, and the tub itself was also removed. Poor tub installation (glue was used for wood under the tub), seems to have been the main reason for scrapping the tub. The problem here was that when I mentioned to the insurance about the tub removal, the insurance company was surprised because they had not been advised ahead of time of the tub removal and scrapping it....a no-no. Categorize that as, "unauthorized work". Fortunately, our Insurance Catastrophe Claims Representative is working with us on this issue. Communication is key!
So, the only other issue so far, is also to do with communication. We have left messages when calling the Supervisor of our restoration process, and don't have return calls.
We just want to be kept informed about what is going on....when workers are coming or not, etc. So, again, it is just communication....very important. I understand we are all busy these days, but communication is so important, and appreciated.
As stated, the work is still ongoing, so at least, our basement is getting better, and we know the work done will be very appreciated.
Thanks!
