  An underwhelming experience; not the experts we needed. Don’t recommend them. My mom wanted new flooring in her bedroom so that she could roll her wheelchair easier. She had carpet. She decided on extending her hardwood floor and wanted to get it “matched” as close as possible to her current flooring. Since I live in Virginia, we decided to go with a local, professional flooring company. Together, she and I reached out to Stout’s in Oxford. We set up an estimate. A representative came out and did the measurements. He hardly spoke to my Mom. Several days later, we received a cost estimate. Mom agreed to the price. We scheduled the installation for a time where I could come in from Virginia and we could shift Mom’s home health care. I arrived and with some help we got all the furniture moved out of the bedroom for a Monday installation. No one showed up. Around 10am I called. I finally got a call back saying the installation was for Tuesday not Monday inferring that I had the wrong day. Since I had made a special trip and drove 800+ miles to be there that was certainly not the case. Frustrated, we shifted to Tuesday. When the installers did arrive, the color was off. Way off. We were told we agreed to the color. Mom and I did not remember any agreement?!? We relooked the email and they had attached a small ‘photo’ of the color swatch. Nowhere in the body of the email did the representative state to review and approve the color and/or the price. We did agree to the price but not the color. We did not install the flooring but returned it. My Mom was hit with a 25% restockage fee and a $75 freight fee. Mom still has carpet in her bedroom and has now given up on the idea of floors she can use easily with her wheelchair. We need experts to do something that most folks only do every 10-15 years or so. We were let down. Mom and I had made significant efforts to make this a smooth operation – I drove in and took time off from work; we moved all the furniture out of the room; we shifted home health care – all for nothing. Seems that my Mom paid for some estimators poor choice in color. Several times we heard, “…that’s how we always do it.”. No, that’s how you always do it. We don’t do “flooring” very often and that’s why we need the experts but Stout’s were not the experts they claimed to be.
