When will the restoration process start?
As soon as your insurance company gives you an estimate and issues payment as necessary, we will review their offer, meet with you, and provide building material samples so you can start making decisions. Once you select what materials you want, we create a detailed contract outlining the work to be done and decide on a date to begin repairs. After you’ve signed the contract, we get to work, restoring your home or business.
How long will the cleanup and restoration process take?
Cleanup and restoration processes depend on the amount of damage and scope of work needing to be done. We have the resources to focus on you and get repairs started and finished quickly. We know you have a busy life and want to get back to normal as soon as possible. We can make it happen.
Our fire was not very big. Can we clean it up ourselves?
Even a small fire can cause extensive damage to your home of business. Fire extinguishers leave behind residue that needs to be properly disposed of. You or your fire department likely used large amounts of water to extinguish the flames, so water damage often goes hand in hand with a fire. Do you work directly with my insurance company if this is an insurance claim?
Yes. Your insurance company may write up their own estimate or ask you to have a contractor submit an estimate of the damage for them to review and approve. Pillar Construction can write up a report for your insurance company and meet with your insurance company’s adjuster to discuss restoration before they give you an estimate. We review their estimate to make sure you are covered. Think of us as your advocate. We are here to represent you and your loss during this stressful time. We’ll use the scope of work and repair estimate to plan a construction budget and schedule.
What happens to the contents of my home (or business) after a fire?
After a fire, we will remove your home or business contents and document and tag them for transport to our facility. We’ll clean and repair them in safe storage until restoration is complete.
Will my insurance company pay for water damage cleanup and repairs?
After you submit a claim, your company will inform you if your policy covers the sustained damage. When you have a homeowners’ insurance policy in place, everything covered under that policy is assigned a value. Keep in mind you’ll also have to pay the deductible on your policy. The amount your insurer will cover will depend on how much evidence of damage you can present the adjuster with, so be sure to document with photos and don’t throw anything away. What does the water damage restoration process involve?
First, we’ll assess the property damage so we can get an estimate from your insurance company. Next, we’ll need to remove any standing water from your home or business and begin drying the affected areas or materials. Decontamination and deodorization are key to get rid of sewage smells, bacteria, or mildew. After we’ve dried and cleaned the area, we’ll replace drywall, insulation, flooring, carpeting, or any other materials that need to be restored.
Can my family stay in our home during the drying or reconstruction process?
Depending on the level of damage, you may be able to stay in your home, yes. If there is black mold or other bacteria already growing, you’ll want to stay out and let Pillar Construction clean the mess. Our first considerations are your immediate and future health risks, so we’ll inspect your home air quality for safety.
How long will it take for the adjuster to inspect my loss?
Your insurance adjuster should be out to inspect your loss within one to five days of filing the claim.

How does the dry-out process work?
We have state-of-the-art equipment for drying and dehumidifying, along with professional sanitation and deodorization techniques to decontaminate affected areas. We’ll remove all your damaged contents and bring them to our facility to be cleaned and dried, then return them once restoration is complete.

Water damage can be unavoidable, but there are ways to safeguard your home or business and minimize the damage. Make sure you regularly service your appliances and plumbing. Don’t leave running water unattended. An overflowing bathtub or sink can cause irreparable damage. Keep your home at an appropriate temperature in the winter to avoid freezing pipes.
