When I did business with this company several years ago, they were great to work with, but ever since they were bought by private equity-backed company Redwood Services, their value has really plummeted. I recently decided I no longer wanted to do my own maintenance, and joined the Dean's Club for $99 per year. They promised "priority scheduling" for preventative maintenance visits several times a year, which sounded great. I immediately tried booking a visit, but on the day of the visit, their scheduling team called and asked to reschedule. The reason I was given in a voicemail was that the technician was sick. However, when I called back to reschedule, they told me that he was diverted to an emergency visit. I tried to get a service technician out 3 times, but each time the technician was unable to make the visit. The third time, I was told that they "don't cancel a third visit", which makes it sound like they intentionally understaff for cost-saving reasons (typical private equity move). On the day of the third visit, I received a call at 12:39. They left a voicemail asking if it was OK to send the technician over. I called their dispatch office back at 12:41 and spoke with someone, telling them that they could go ahead and send the tech over. At 12:42, I got another voicemail from their dispatch asking me again if they could send the technician over. Then, at 12:50, they left me one more voicemail telling me that they had cancelled the visit because I wasn't available. I don't know what about this is "priority scheduling" but it sounds to me like blatant understaffing for cost-saving reasons and is not the kind of service I'm looking for.

This company would get zero stars if that were an option. While the technician was polite, he falsely claimed that I needed a completely new electrical panel for $11,000. I decided to get a second opinion from a local company, and they fixed the issue by simply replacing one breaker. Deans attempted to scare me into unnecessary, extremely expensive work, and then charged me $221 for doing absolutely nothing. This kind of dishonest, predatory service is unacceptable. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

This company is an absolute joke, they were supposed to come on Tuesday called after I took the day off and told me they would not be able to make it and would be there Thursday. They didn't get a hold of me until the afternoon on Thursday and I had an emergency come up so I discussed having it done Friday. I took off Friday so that they could come and again they blew me off. Now I have no heat in my house and these people don't give adam about their customers. All they care about is money. Absolute horrible company. Stay away!!

EDIT: Dean's did end up sending somebody out to resolve this in line with their initial expected schedule and covered the issue under warranty. It was related to a faulty gas valve and I appreciate the work that Sam and the scheduling team did to make it right again. While I do appreciate them correcting this, the initial response of needing to take 4 days to get someone out was still really concerning and depending on the timing, could have been really problematic if it were cold enough where I would need to go elsewhere to find a solution. I can't think of how you would mitigate this beyond simply bringing on more staff, but in any case I'm happy they got someone out when they could to fix the issue and I appreciate the work they do. --- OLD REVIEW: I'd previously had a positive review for DHS, but have needed to severely drop my rating with my latest experiences I've had. I had a whole home HVAC replacement occur approximately a year ago done by Dean's, the service and team was great, speedy and pleasant to work with. Since then however, less than a year after the installation I've had the unit fully error out and shut down on me twice. The cause is due to a tripped flame roll out switch. The first repair tech was able to diagnose and fix the issue and cover it under warranty, no problems with them at all and I was happy. Unfortunately, its gone out again when we're at our coldest point of this late fall/early winter season so far. When trying to schedule service again however, they told me that the soonest that they would be able to come out is Thursday- almost 4 full days ahead of when the issue happened as I reported it on Monday. As of the day of this review, it's 30 degrees and we have animals in the house that I'm slightly concerned about due to the cold and having no heating whatsoever for 4 days. For being on the hook for a nearly $19,000 furnace replacement, I'm really upset that there doesn't appear to have been any urgency to get someone out to fix their newly installed unit. For what I paid/am paying for the next 10+ years, I'm really unhappy with this situation.

They shouldn't even get 1 star. We signed up for their membership to flush our water heaters and do annual service maintenance on our geo system and furnaces. They never called to schedule the service visits, when I called I got a call center with a very rude customer service representative that told me our membership had expired after 5 months even though it was an annual membership. This is a scam for sure. They also said they no longer service geo thermal systems so we don't even have a viable technician to work on our system. I asked for a managers email and the customer service person told me she doesn't have any emails for their management which we all know is complete BS. What modern day company doesn't have contact information for their management. They refuse to give it out because they'd be hearing from upset customers who paid for but received no service ALL DAY LONG!! Stay away, find a local shop with local ownership and save yourself the hassle. The attorney general needs to step in on this, sounds just like MN Russco, ponzi scheme on the memberships.
