  After over three decades in a sixty year old suburban house, we had been looking for a trustworthy company to do renovations to our kitchen, living room, and main bathroom. We learned of J Brothers from neighbors and saw first hand the quality and attention to detail of their work. We met owners Carrie and Mitch Johnson about six months before remodel. Very early on we were impressed with the plan and the design. We were assisted through the process of choosing windows, appliances, cabinets and countertops with good ideas, a keen eye for detail, humor, and patience. J Brothers have selected a team of talented carpenters, framers, detailers, electricians, plumbers, flooring and tile installers. We were impressed by their level of skill, commitment, punctuality, problem solving, and overall effort. As a whole they exceeded our expectations. This was a major undertaking for us and came away with many stories of how they went above and beyond EVERY DAY during the 8 weeks of demolition, rebuilding, and remodel. J Brothers finished on time and under budget. We highly recommend J Brothers and will choose them again when future remodeling is needed.

  We had J Brothers do a primary bedroom and bath renovation and couldn't be happier with their work. All the contractors and laborers on our job were very skilled, friendly, accommodating to many extra jobs we asked be added to the original scope. In addition, the quality of the work done is exceptional. We highly J Brothers to others and they will be the first we contact for future work at our newly purchased home in St. Michael.

  J Brothers finished our basement. From design to construction, it was a fantastic experience. Our design included a workout room, full bar, hockey shooting room and built in cabinets for bar and fireplace. They iterated our design many times to get exactly what we wanted. The crew was fantastic at our house. Super clean, respectful and helpful all along the way. The quality of the work was great and we had no issues. I would highly recommend them to anyone doing a major remodel.

  J Brothers helped us design and build built-ins in our great room. Mitch, Carrie and the team were a pleasure to work with. They were organized, timely and detailed through the planning. And had great communication through the remodel portion. They kept their work area clean and took great care of our house. We will turn to J Brothers for any home improvement needs in the future.

  We had J Brothers finish our basement this year and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. They are truly good people—down to earth, honest and amazing to work with. Carrie has a gift for design and takes the time to understand her clients. Their designer was on maternity leave during our project and we enjoyed working directly with Carrie, though we know their designers are excellent. Carrie quickly understood our style and needs, and her ideas for our space were both brilliant and practical, making the space feel exactly like us. We intentionally wanted a really low maintenance, comfortable, easy, functional space that was VERY kid friendly and she helped us balance our desire for simplicity with the important design touches that made our basement beautiful as well as functional. Mitch ran construction with precision—everything moved smoothly, stayed on schedule (actually ahead of schedule by a week for our family) and was completed on budget. Mitch's team members and subcontractors are all high integrity people that we have a lot of trust in. They walled off the walkway to our basement so that contractors could come and go easily and without disrupting us (I work from home so this was important). As with any big project, small challenges are bound to pop up. How Mitch handled the little things just grew our trust in him and his team more. Every small issue was addressed quickly, without stress or hassle and always made right. Mitch is also really smart and sees things that might make a difference both in the initial project planning phase and during construction. For example, Mitch noticed that while we didn't design our gym to be flush with the wall in the space, it would make the gym much bigger so even after the gym was already framed, Mitch happily had his team bring the wall out to be even with the other walls, giving us an extra foot or so of space in our small gym. Overall, working with every person on their team is a joy and we feel so lucky we found them. The end result is a basement that feels like a natural extension of our home and we couldn’t be happier. In the three months since our basement was finished, we have hosted dozens of kids for parties, playdates, dodgeball tournaments, soccer team get togethers, movie nights and football watching, not to mention the impact it has had on our ability to exercise and play at home. This space has made our lives better in so many ways. We wholeheartedly recommend J Brothers to anyone looking for a contractor who combines skill, creativity and integrity. Because of the follow-through during the basement project and after (we had some minor issues with the sauna company damaging the wall, for example and Mitch is always willing to help get things fixed even when it wasn't his team who damaged things), we are already starting the process of working with them on our mudroom and possibly our kitchen as well. It would be really tough for our family to ever work with another contractor on large projects after this experience. We're definitely J Brothers loyal at this point! Hire them! You won't regret it.
