Maurer Heating & Cooling

Maurer Heating is a small family owned and operated local business. We are a direct successor of the Kalamazoo Stove Company, which was founded in 1935 by Mr. John Weersing. John, along with sons Merrill and Nelson, developed one of the area’s leading heating companies in the mid 40’s, mainly installing and servicing wood and coal furnaces. They became an independent Lennox dealer in 1946 and Merrill became the sole owner in 1953. Leon Maurer began working for Merrill in 1948 as an installer, and his wife Ketha, joined the company in the early 1960s as the bookkeeper. In 1972, they bought the business and at that time renamed it to Maurer Heating and Cooling.
