  I had S&R out to perform a seasonal checkup and check of my system. The tech seemed knowledgeable and made a few suggestions. However S&R never sent me an estimate for the suggested work even after multiple follow ups. Needless to say, I was surprised at the lack of professionalism from Smith & Rawlings. Edit - Reducing to 1 star as S&R added me to their marketing email list after ignoring me for months, adding insult to injury.

  It is my belief that Smith & Rawlins (S&R) cheats. Smith and Rawlins was my go to HVAC and plumbing company for many years. The quality of their work was good. I stopped using S&W when we moved to a new home and had a problem with hot water to the side of the house farthest from the how water heater. It took a long time for the water to arrive at tht sink. There is a small pump and thermo-controlled valve that assures instant hot water to remote areas. It's available at Home Depot. The entire kit is less that $300. It is a simple installation, solder the pump into the the hot water line ( a 1/2 hour job buy any competent worker) to circulate the water and a valve installed under the sink in the distant bathroom. That valve screws in. A five minute job. S&R charged me in excess of $900.I forget the exact amount. I have some understanding or mechanical work as the now retired Director Of Engineering for at times, both Hilton and Marriot Hotels. I know how long it would take to install this system. So, if you deduct the cost to the unit from the price paid you end up with, in excess of $600. Installation of this unit by a competent worker should take less the an hour. Even allowing an hour travel time S&R charged more that $300 per hour. That is excessive...way excessive. I brought this, IMO, overcharge up with the owned. His response was, in effect... wella', wella'. wella. He had no reasonable answer. Crooks imo. Looks elsewhere is my advice.

  Smith & Rawlings has been serving my HVAC and plumbing needs for over 30 years. The annual service contract on my heat pump has more than doubled the expected life of the unit. They are competent, reliable, and trustworthy. The long tenure of their employees attests to the quality of their business. I can always rely on them for good advice and great service.
